With Jose Mourinho wanting to land another defender to his Manchester United squad, it could be the end for Argentinian outcast Marcos Rojo. The left-footed centre back is yet to establish himself in the Manchester United first-team squad, Rojo was on the verge of leaving for Villarreal this summer but the move eventually fell through.
The German outfit, Bayer Leverkusen will be hoping that Rojo would be another valuable deal as they made one with former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez (As reported by Goal.com citing the Dailymail). The Bundesliga club signed the striker for just £7.3m and Hernandez has become an integral part of their team.
Rojo was brought to Old Trafford by Louis Van Gaal. Man United spent £16 million for his services from Sporting Lisbon in 2014. But United won’t let Rojo leave for cheap and would want to recoup most of the money spent on the 26-year-old.
Leverkusen have also qualified for the Champions League knock-out stages which will tempt the defender with a switch.
Despite United’s disappointing league showing, where they are 13 points off leaders Chelsea, Rojo insists his side are still united as a team. He said: “We’re always together and, after training, we have fun just like any other team. It’s very important that we’re united off the pitch and pulling in the same direction, as this helps when a game comes around.”
“When you have that, you’re united on the pitch without even realising it and everyone works hard for each other and the manager too.” Said the Argentinian
Rojo has only recently been given game-time by Mourinho as he has played the full 90 minutes in Manchester United’s last four league games.
