Manchester United Can Forget Their Top Summer Target

Atlast it seems all the speculations on Cesc Fabregas’ future have come to a halt. Barcelona vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu firmly states that the Spanish giants will not entertain any proposal for the 26-year old midfielder.

Cesc Fabregas is one player who has been at the epicenter of the transfer rumors this year as Manchester United have been pursuing this former Arsenal captain ever since Thiago snubbed them in favour of Bayern Munich. After a preliminary bid of £25m, David Moyes swelled the bid to a whopping £30m. However, failing in both the ocassions, Moyes is yet to sign a decent midfielder as the season looms closer.

Talking about the situation, Barca’s Josep Maria Bartomeu said as quoted by the BBC:

“United’s interest for Cesc Fabregas is obvious, he’s a great player but it does not bother us. It does not matter what they offer us, we are not selling him.”

“I’m not going to involve myself in the club’s accounts, but considering the club has already rejected two offers, I would guess it will reject a third,” Martino said.

“In other words, Fabregas will remain here. If there was a higher offer would we accept it? No. We’re proud that a club like that wants one of our players,” added Bartomeu.

Fabregas holds the record for being the youngest player to represent the Arsenal senior squad. Apart from that, his tally of 57 goals and 100 assists in 303 appearances for the Gunners has always made him a lucrative player in the English league. His versatility, goal-scoring ability and ball controlling have given him accolades that even after back to back under par performances with the Catalan Club, Fabregas’ value has not come down.

In other news, Manchester United’s veteran and one of the pillars of the team, Rio Ferdinand has been overwhelmed with the new Red Devils sensation Wilfred Zaha. Zaha, who was Sir Alex’ last signing as a United manager last January, joined the club on the pre-season Asia tour.

“Wilfried is a fantastic talent. That is why you pay £15m for a kid,” Ferdinand said.

This England international featured in United’s draw with Japanese side Cerezo Osaka and scored his first goal for the Red Devils. But Ferdinand firmly believes that it is just the dawn of a new phenomenon. The winger has a lot to show off at Old Trafford in the near future.

“He is raw, with great individual skills and the early indications are that he is a hard worker.

“He wants to be a top footballer and he wants to improve. With those attributes, that desire and the influences he will have at this club, hopefully we will have a top player on our hands.”

Now the pressure is on this 20-year kid who has to prove that Ferdinand’s expectation are not unjustified.
