Manchester City opinion: Scout report on Benjamin Nygren

Sweden don’t always produce superstars but when they do, they just happen to be players of incredibly great calibre. Henrik Larsson, Freddie Ljungberg, Anders Limpar, Emil Forsberg, Alexander Isak and of course the great Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

They’ve all flourished in their own way across their careers, with a few still doing so in Europe. It’s one of the many reasons why clubs from Europe send scouts to Sweden, and it seems that Manchester City may have found the next great thing.

English news outlet the Manchester Evening News has reported that the Cityzens are keen on a move for the young Benjamin Nygren. The report further adds that City isn’t the only side, with Bayern Munich and Inter Milan also in the race.

The 17-year-old has lit up the Allsvenskan, starting every game so far but the more important fact is that Nygren has been scoring.

He’s netted four goals in his last 11 appearances and also added four more assists to that tally with IFK’s chief scout happy with his development.

Here is everything you need to know about the youngster:

Scout Report – Benjamin Nygren

Current Club – IFk Goteborg

Age – 17

Position – Forward

A left-footed forward with a rather impressive eye for goal, Nygren has always impressed his scouts even at a very young age.

The 17-year-old may have only made his Allsvenskan debut in 2018 with 3 appearances but even then he managed to contribute to 3 goals despite playing just under 190 minutes.

It shows just how talented and creatively inclined the young forward is and why Manchester City, Bayern Munich and even Inter Milan are rightfully chasing after him. As mentioned above, Nygren is a left-footed forward with a very intelligent and creative eye for goal.

His composure and sheer skill are far greater than players who are much older than him. What does separate him from the other teenagers that are in and around him is his ‘never say die’ attitude.

That is showcased in his work ethic, which ensures that Nygren goes above and beyond for his team in every game.

Benjamin Nygren’s creative sense and deft first touch make him an absolute joy to watch and he is the centre-piece in IFK Goteborg’s new fluid and entertaining side.

It’s why so many scouts have flooded to watch the young forward flourish and with time that should increase.

Tom Landry once said "Football is an incredible game. Sometimes it's so incredible, it's unbelievable." Football is and always will be the beautiful game. What every child understands, yet every adult struggles to, is that it is a game that defines the nature of the universe. But that's just me.
