Manchester United welcome Partizan Belgrade on Thursday, aiming to seal a spot in the next round of the Europa League.
The Red Devils’ mini-revival came to an end last Saturday when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer saw his side lose to Bournemouth in the Premier League. Prior to that, they had won three away games, including a 1-0 victory at Partizan.
However, Solskjaer will be desperate to get three points on Thursday at Old Trafford and qualify for the Europa League round of 32.
Paul Pogba is out with an ankle injury until December, while Nemanja Matic, Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot and Axel Tuanzebe have no specific dates for their return from respective injuries.
Romero has proven to be a reliable back-up goalkeeper for Manchester United and is expected to start in the Europa League game against Partizan Belgrade.
Solskjaer could give Wan-Bissaka a rest on Thursday and hand Young a start at right-back.
Lindelof has been poor since the start of the season. He has to quickly get back his form and repay the manager’s faith in him.
Partnering Lindelof at the back could be Rojo, who has done well whenever called upon this season.
The star of United’s win against Partizan in Belgrade, Williams is a certain starter at left-back on Thursday.
McTominay has risen to the occasion and has been one of United’s rare bright sparks in an otherwise disappointing campaign so far. He’ll keep his place in the team.
Garner did very well against Partizan away from home. The 18-year-old should get a chance against the same opponents on Thursday.
Greenwood is a very talented player and deserves a run of games in the starting XI. While he is a natural finisher and an extremely dangerous presence in the box, he could be handed a start on the right flank.
Mata is a creative player who could be the key to unlock Partizan’s well-drilled defence. The Spaniard should start in the No.10 role.
Rashford has looked lively and a difficult player to contain for the opposition in the last couple of weeks. He is one of the certainties to start against Partizan.
Martial was ineffective at Bournemouth but he’ll be eager to perform well on Thursday and help the Red Devils bag three points.
