Man United signing this 27-year-old Belgian star would get them a perfect replacement for Valencia

Manchester United opinion: Should the Red Devils go for Thomas Meunier?

English news outlet Independent has reported that Manchester United are leading the race for PSG star Thomas Meunier. The PSG star has already revealed that he would like to move to the Premier League one day (Manchester Evening News) and that gives the Red Devils a chance to make the move.

At the moment, the Belgian star is second choice at the club and is looking for a move. He has played just 49% of the minutes available this season, with manager Thomas Tuchel opting to use Dani Alves instead this season.

The veteran has struggled with injuries this season but has played more games and minutes this season than Meunier. That has irked the Belgian and Guardian has linked him with a move away.

Everton (Le10Sport) have also been linked with a move, with the Toffees looking for a new full-back but it’s Manchester United who need to win the race. The Red Devils have struggled defensively this season.

The likes of Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia and even Matteo Darmian have all struggled to make a difference, with Valencia and Darmian frozen out of the squad.

They need new full-backs and Thomas Meunier should be at the top of their shortlist. One of the most exciting and attack-minded full-backs of his time, the 27-year-old is at the peak of his powers.

Even on his worst days, the Belgian should be a better option than either Thilo Kehrer or Dani Alves.

That’s exactly what he will become for Manchester United and he could be the missing piece of the puzzle. Things need to change at Old Trafford and a move for arguably one of the most underrated right-backs in the world will help shore up their difference.

The 27-year-old is better than any option that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has at the moment.

Conclusion

Manchester United could use a new right-back right now and Thomas Meunier could make all the difference. Clearly, Ashley Young cannot be depended on anymore and moving on would be the best option for everyone involved.
