Man United hijacking PSG’s plans to land 29-year-old world-class star would make them title contenders next season

Manchester United opinion: Should the Red Devils sign Miralem Pjanic?

Italian news outlet Corriero Dello Sport has reported that PSG have joined Manchester United in the race for Juventus star Miralem Pjanic.

The 29-year-old midfielder has been heavily courted by both the Parisians and the Red Devils over the course of this season and it seems that the battle might end in the summer.

With both sides looking for new superstars, Miralem Pjanic seems to be their man. Manchester United have been linked with a move for the Bosnian, with links in November (Metro), August (Manchester Evening News) and even in February (Mirror).

It was just after the winter window that the Juventus midfielder revealed to the Mirror that Manchester United did make an approach. A move failed to materialise back then but the Red Devils should reignite their interest.

They clearly need reinforcements and Fred’s struggles to cope with the Premier League has been evident. The Brazilian has managed to produce just two goals so far for the club and saw Jose Mourinho, who brought him in, drop him after a declining period.

He’s continued to struggle under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and has shown few signs of improvement. For a side that is chasing a top-four spot now and hopefully a Premier League title in the near future, they cannot have an inconsistent player who has shown no signs of improvement.

They need someone who is world-class and at the moment, there are few central midfielders in the world who are as good as Miralem Pjanic. Arguably one of the best at what he does, the Bosnian reads the game so beautifully that his eyes darting all over the field looking for the best options.

It’s that number 6, a Pirlo-esque midfielder that the Red Devils have missed so often this season. In fact, one of the best examples of that was when they faced Juventus and lost 1-0 earlier in the Champions League.

The Bosnian was the centre of the attraction despite the highly publicised return of Cristiano Ronaldo to his former side. Instead, Pjanic ran the show, directing the traffic with such ease.

It’s why Manchester United should hijack PSG’s move and their links in the past only emphasise why they really should do so.

Manchester United need their very own conductor to slot alongside Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic, and few players fit that billing as well as Miralem Pjanic. The 29-year-old is amongst the best in his position and he’s exactly the player they need to conduct their future plans.
