According to a report from The Scottish Sun, Ecuador wonder kid Jose Cifuentes has revealed that he would favour a move to Manchester City or Scottish giants Celtic.
The 20-year-old, who currently plays for CD America, a club based in Ecuador, also added that he is dreaming of a future with European football.
The Ecuadorian wonder kid broke into the public’s eye during his successful U20 campaign with his national team, where he put some valourous displays.
Besides helping his side finish third in the competition, Cifuentes also bagged the goal of the tournament award. He began his career with CD Catholic University and later opted a move to America de Quito, where he started to get more playing time.
Over the past two seasons, he has played 61 games, adding a goal tally of 7. Cifuentes mainly plays as a pivot in the midfield.
The Sky Blues recently snapped up the services of highly-rated midfielder Rodri from Atletico Madrid, who is touted be the long-term successor of Fernandinho.
Rodri holds the typical archetype of a defensive midfielder, which often reminds us of his fellow compatriot Sergio Busquets.
Without a doubt at Etihad, the 26-year-old is expected to reprise the role he did under Diego Simeone in the past season, which will leave Guardiola short of back-up options.
Hence, the Sky Blues can make use of budding talent, Cifuentes. The Ecuadorian prodigy is an out-and-out defensive midfielder and has hardly played in any other positions.
However, he has a handful of experience under his belt and a move to the Premier League would be the first stepping stone in his career.
