Manchester City are synonymous with great attacking football under Pep Guardiola.
The Cityzens have been incredible under the Spaniard winning consecutive Premier League titles, and seem set to battle Liverpool for the crown this season too.
Sergio Aguero has started the campaign by scoring six goals while David Silva and Raheem Sterling look great too.
Rodri could be one of the smartest signings from Guardiola as he seems to have found the perfect replacement for Fernandinho, but there were some big moves in the defence too.
City signed Joao Cancelo from Juventus and the Italians were interested in landing Oleksandr Zinchenko before the end of the transfer window, according to Calciomercato (h/t ESPN).
Fortunately for the Cityzens, the deal didn’t see the light of day, and Zinchenko can continue his great work for them.
The youngster became a permanent fixture in the City first-team during the end of the previous campaign, and the 22-year-old keeps on improving too.
The Ukrainian is great with his attacking runs and has formed an almost telepathic connection with the forwards too.
Zinchenko might not have been a bigger name than Benjamin Mendy when he arrived at the club, but the 22-year-old has proved he can play under a demanding manager such as Guardiola.
The left-back’s crossing is one of his strong points, something that City’s attackers thrive on and the Ukrainian is comfortable at playing in the heart of the midfield.
The only issue with his game is his physical ability, but he makes up for that with his quick feet and pace.
City did well to keep hold of Zinchenko given their injury problems as Mendy is out for a while. They did bring Angelino back from PSV Eindhoven, but the Spaniard needs time before he can do the business under Guardiola.
The Cityzens cannot let up this season after Liverpool’s start and should expect a strong season from Zinchenko this time around.
City might rely on the likes of Sterling, Aguero and Silva to break down defences but they need quality at the back too.
Not many speak about Zinchenko when highlighting City’s defence, but the Ukrainian has become one of the most important players under Pep after starting all four Premier League games this season.
