Glenn Loovens will once again miss out as Sheffield Wednesday look to get past Carlisle United this week in their FA Cup replay at Hillsborough
Manager Jos Luhukay would surely love the chance to give a rest to plenty of other first-team regulars too, though it seems only Jordan Rhodes may miss out in a slight reshuffle given that he doesn’t have too much at his disposal at the moment.
Wednesday have not been in a rich vein of form, though their battling 0-0 draw in the Steel City derby last Friday may well give them some much-needed confidence. Luhukay may well switch back to a 4-4-2 formation for this game, making Wednesday more open and attractive as they enter this match as clear favourites:
Playing well since being given his chance in the first XI and it seems he’ll be between the sticks again.
Another game for the Scottish defender who has been here for a long time now but hasn’t always had the chance to shine.
The Portuguese stopper should start once more at the back, partnering Pudil in the middle.
A more than capable replacement for Glenn Loovens at the back and so bound to be in the starting XI for the clash with the Cumbrians.
A regular member of the first-team squad here and one who will do his bit to try and get the Owls safely through to the next round.
Still capable of doing a job at this level and would fancy himself a goal if given the chance to play in this one.
Has played in this sort of position recently and may be called upon to hold the midfield again.
Could be asked to perform this central midfield role once again, though I’m sure he’d prefer to be out wide on the right.
A solid and reliable member of this squad who may be relied upon once again to get the job done on the left.
A chance for the striker to impress the new boss, coming in for Jordan Rhodes who may be kept for Championship duties.
The Portuguese forward could be given another start here as was the case in the first game at Brunton Park.
