Greenwood to start, Rashford out? Predicted 4-2-3-1 Man United XI to face Wolves

Manchester United Prediction: Probable XI to face Wolves

Manchester United will return to Old Trafford on Wednesday as they welcome Wolves in the third-round replay in the FA Cup.

The Red Devils are coming into the game on the back of a convincing 4-0 Premier League win against Norwich City, which was their first victory in four games. The thumping victory at the weekend would have given Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side some much-needed confidence boost ahead of Wednesday’s encounter.

Wolves, meanwhile, managed a 1-1 draw with Newcastle United on Saturday but they will be raring to take their chances against an inconsistent Manchester United side.

Team News

Marcus Rashford was forced off just before the hour-mark against Norwich and it remains to be seen whether or not he’ll be fit to face Wolves. Luke Shaw dropped out of Saturday’s squad due to illness but is expected to be fit for the upcoming game.

Axel Tuanzebe and Marcos Rojo could return next week, while Jesse Lingard remains out with illness. Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Eric Bailly featured for United’s Under-23s against Newcastle in a bid to get match-fit, so they are unlikely to be in contention for the FA Cup game.

Manchester United Prediction: Probable XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Sergio Romero (GK)

Romero has been United’s goalkeeper for cup competitions and he’s a certainty to start against Wolves.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB)

The right-back has become one of United’s key players under Solskjaer. Wan-Bissaka should retain his place in the Red Devils’ defence.

Victor Lindelof (CB)

Lindelof had a solid game against Norwich as he helped Manchester United keep a clean sheet on Saturday. The Swede will retain his place at the back.

Harry Maguire (CB)

Maguire partnered Lindelof at the back on Saturday and the duo has to be at its best to keep Wolves at bay.

Brandon Williams (LB)

With Shaw injury prone and Young coming to the end of his career, Williams is slowly starting to cement his position at left-back. His ability to bomb up and down the left flank makes him such a great fit for Solskjaer’s side.

Nemanja Matic (CM)

Matic is showing signs of getting back to his old self with a series of solid displays in the midfield of late. The Serb is a certainty to start against Nuno’s side.

Fred (CM)

With McTominay and Pogba injured, Fred cannot be afforded any time off now. The Brazilian will partner Matic in central midfield and look to neutralize Wolves’ attack.

Mason Greenwood (RW)

An exceptionally talented player, Greenwood scored in the 4-0 victory over Norwich on Saturday. The teenager sensation will start on the right flank.

Juan Mata (CAM)

Mata was fantastic in United’s big win over Norwich, grabbing two assists and linking the play between the midfield and the attack. The Spaniard has done enough to warrant his place in Solskjaer’s side.

Daniel James (LW)

James’ form has dipped of late but with Rashford a doubt, he could be handed a start. The Welsh winger will look to impress the manager with a strong display.
