London XI : Selecting A Best XI From The Teams Of London Based On This Season’s Performance

London is the City which has the maximum professional football clubs in the world. But each club hates the others in the city of London when it comes to football. We’ve made a strong team by taking the best players for each role from the different clubs of the city.

Goal Keeper – Petr Cech :

Probably the easiest pick of the lot. Though currently injured, he easily makes the team. Cech did not have the greatest first half of the season compared to his other seasons at Chelsea, but he easily beats the competition from the keepers of other London clubs especially Arsenal and Spurs who have 2 keepers each playing an equal role this season.

But on his day, he can be the best keeper in the world.

Defenders :

Right Back – Kyle Walker :

What a wonderful young talent he is.Voted as the PFA Young Footballer of the Year in April and included in the PFA Team of the Year, he is definitely the hope for the future for both Spurs and for England. His ability to go front, amazing crossing and shooting skills combined with a no nonsense defending makes him an obvious pick over Ivanovich(who played as a center back for most of the season) and Sagna(injured most of the time)

Center Backs :

Branislav Ivanovich :

A near perfect season was in jeopardy for Ivanovich when he made two crucial blunders for Chelsea against Swansea in the Capital One Cup. Nevertheless, he still makes it in the top XI because he has been simply flawless in the other games. He missed only 1 EPL game this season and has been one of the most consistent players for The Blues.

Joey O’Brien :

With 2 goals, 2 assists and 6 clean sheets in just 14 EPL starts for West Ham O’Brien forced his way into the team ahead of consistent players like Cahill and Vermaelen. He is a major reason for West Ham’s great start to the season and his performances in the second half of the season will surely be instrumental in making or breaking the Hammers’ season. Hammers will have to battle it out with the clubs from Merseyside for that last Europa League spot and good solid defending from their main defender is their key to finishing in the top 6.

Left Back – Ashley Cole :

An easy pick. There has been no consistent left back for any other team in London so far and Cole is one of the best left backs in the world at the moment. He was also a shock omission from the FIFA Team of the Year and making it to the London XI is fairly easy for the Englishman. He could not play for Chelsea next season but he puts in performances of the highest quality every time he starts this season.

Central Midfielders :

Frank Lampard :

A tough choice between Lampard and Arteta. But who can ignore Lampard’s impact this season. With an uncertainty of his future at Chelsea, people expected his performances to dip. But this player just keeps getting better by the day. He has broken few more records this season and is on his way to breaking a more. He’s become Chelsea’s second highest goal scorer of all time and also the only player in the history of English football to score a minimum of 5 goals in 16 consecutive seasons. He is a handful goals away from becoming Chelsea’s highest scorer of all time and just 3 away from becoming the first player to score at least at least 10 goals in 10 consecutive seasons.

Chelsea and London will surely miss this legend if he leaves at the end of the season.

Santi Cazorla :

After Michu, he is undoubtedly the best signing of the summer transfer window. Santi Cazorla has adapted to life in the Premier League quickly, and Van Persie’s departure has made him the center piece of the Arsenal attacking force, so much so that the Arsenal build-up play now seems to be revolving around him. With 7 goals and 6 assists already this season, Cazorla has been the man of the match for Arsenal more than any other player in the team.

Attacking Midfielders :

Juan Mata :

Mata has recovered from his summer exploits with Spain and is currently Chelsea’s most potent weapon – and that’s saying something given their summer spending spree.

The Spaniard claimed the Premier League player of the month for October. His movement and creativity are difficult for anyone to handle. Except for the league title, Mata has won almost every other major competition he took part in. And oh, he is just 24. With 13 goals and 18 assists so far this season, Mata single handedly held the reins of the Chelsea attack when things looked bleak with the departure of Drogba

Wilfred Zaha :

The most surprising choice in the XI? Don’t think so. A player who is improving at the rate of knots, Zaha is on the radar of the top most EPL clubs. He is the key for Crystal Palace’s good run in the league and if he stays with them for the rest of the season, they will be favorites to gain promotion. Zaha is a pleasure to watch and he makes it into our team over other London players like Hazard and Dembele.

Gareth Bale :

Bale remains one of the most dangerous left wingers in Europe. This season his goal scoring form may not be as good as he would have liked but there are few who can run at such a relentless pace as the Welshman, while even less can produce such consistently high-quality balls for his team-mates to get on the end of.

On many occasions after the departure of Modric, he has persisted as the lone warrior for Tottenham when the rest of the team was not performing or were turning in less-than-spirited performances. A straight forward pick.

Striker – Dimitar Berbatov

While there is a lack of top quality strikers in London compared to the firepower both Manchester clubs possess, Berbatov is a one of a kind forward who proved against Arsenal recently that he has magic in his boots.

Giroud and Torres both need to find their shooting boots, while Jermain Defoe is an excellent goalscorer but needs to develop his all round game.
