Why Llorente To Chelsea Is One Of The Worst Deals You Will Ever See

Share

With the second half of the season already starting to kick off, it is officially the time when it comes to signing, as the rich want to get richer and will aggressively pursue whoever they feel that could be the missing piece they need to seal their supremacy over other contending sides.

One of the biggest stories of the season so far is Antonio Conte’s success in his first season as Chelsea’s manager, as the Italian boss had already proved his value both at Juventus and the Italian national team, but the way he has adapted his system to the English Premier League has been just very fast and surprising.

After a mediocre season under the commands of Jose Mourinho and Guus Hiddink, Roman Abramovich’s side was set to face a season without playing in a Continental competition for the first time in a while, and their main – and only – priority was to be once again become a dominant presence at the top of the local table, and boy have they succeeded.

Chelsea have been leading the Premier League table for a while now. Nevertheless, even good things can get better. Thus, the Blues are looking to get some reinforcements to face the second half of the season and take the award home at the end of the year.

After being snubbed by Leonardo Bonucci, Conte decided to cut Nathan Ake’s loan short from AFC Bournemouth, bringing the Dutch back to his parent club and now that his need for another defender is finally fulfilled, the Italian will look to reinforce the offensive side of the pitch as well, considering he hasn’t been convinced by Michy Batshuayi yet and Diego Costa’s currently their only reliable option on offence.

That’s why Conte’s looking to bring Swansea’s Fernando Llorente to Stamford Bridge, but that would be an awful deal for both parties and we’ll give you the 3 main reasons why.

Swansea desperately needs him

Llorente has been one of the lone bright spots of Swansea so far this season, netting 6 scores in over 15 appearances and helping the Welsh side earn a couple of points that they desperately need in the relegation scramble they’re currently facing, and they just can’t afford to lose him.

He’s old and slow

Let’s face it, the 31-year-old Spaniard isn’t as good as he used to be, and his father time has finally reached him after being one of the most prolific finishers during his years with Sevilla, and even if he’s quite good for a lesser side like Swansea, a contending team like Chelsea could definitely do better (and younger) in their hunt for a second striker.

They can’t give up on Michy

The Belgian has had a disappointing season for far, but to be fair, he hasn’t had consistent minutes to prove his value at Stamford Bridge. Bathsuayi came with high praise looking to be Diego Costa’s replacement, but looking at the great moment that the Spaniard is having, he has struggled to get any playing time, hence, hurting his confidence in a  big way. Nevertheless, he’s still very young and talented, and he just needs time to show what he’s capable of doing.
