Liverpool Latest Including José Callejón And Arjen Robben

Liverpool are almost on the verge of losing their prolific striker Luis Suarez as the Uruguayan if rumours are true is heading well and truly to Real Madrid in a mammoth deal. We have already reported the likes of Iago Aspas and Henrikh Mkhitaryan apart from the several other obvious big name signings in the past as potential replacements for Suarez and here is another story similar to that.

According to Spain’s Marca.com, 

Manuel García Quilón – agent of Albiol and Callejón – is preparing offers to make to the club in order to allow both players to depart Real.

It is believed that Callejón wants to remain at the Bernabeu and fight for his place in the first team, but the forward knows that Madrid are pursuing big name players and there are chances that he may be used as part of transfer deals – for Isco with Málaga and Luis Suárez with Liverpool. And even if Callejón decides to leave on his own, Madrid will not have much concerns as, Jesé Rodríguez is waiting in the wings to fill the gap.

Coming back to Liverpool, it is unnecessary to mention that the huge money that Liverpool expects to receive in return for Suarez should help them a lot in scouring the market and bring to Anfield some of the big budget transfers that Rodgers wants. But there is another probability as mentioned above, that Real Madrid would offer Liverpool cash along with Jose Callejón. But the question is, do the Merseyside need Callejón?

Callejón is a quite a decent player and has played a fair amount of time under Jose Mourinho this season, as opposed to the previous seasons. He can play in many positions for the club, from being a second striker to a wide forward on either side of the flanks, a real versatile player who can certainly give a different look when combined with the likes of Coutinho and Sturridge.

He is a product of the Real Madrid youth system and has had a three year spell at Espanyol before returning to Madrid in 2011. Since then the Spanish youngster has featured in 55 matches for the club, scoring eight goals, though a fair share of the appearances have come from the substitute benches.  He is a utility player and the kind of player who can provide immense support to the team in case of any needs.

But again, the real question remains that do Liverpool need a player like Callejón in their ranks right now? It is without a doubt that Callejón is a talented player but at 26 years of age, he has probably reached his optimum. If Liverpool successfully bring Aspas to the club, then Callejón would not be required in the forward role but in the wings Liverpool still employ Downing or Henderson at times and Callejón can certainly be an improvement from that. But Downing’s form has improved recently and thus it would not be too wise right now to replace him with Callejón, plus the money used on him can rather be used for someone like Henrik Mkhitaryan, the Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder or Sevilla’s Ivan Rakitic.

The only scenario the Reds should be thinking of going for Callejón is when Madrid give them a hefty cash for Suarez along with Callejón.

Moving on, there has been one crazy rumour going on that Bayern Munich wants to use Arjen Robben as a bait to lure the Merseyside into selling Luis Suarez. Robben + cash for Suarez?

Is it a good business for Liverpool? I am out of words here, the Dutch International’s season although ended in a high scoring the Champions league final, had a horrible horrible first half and if not for Toni Kroos’ torn hamstring, Robben would have never made it to the starting line-up. After already making huge mistakes with the likes of Carroll and Downing, do Liverpool have to risk it for the third time? Am not going into the tactical part of the transfer, but Robben to Liverpool in itself sounds a little weird, well it is just my feeling.
