Wolverhampton Wanderers have launched a £12m bid for Manchester City‘s wide player Oleksandr Zinchenko. The Ukrainian took part in 8 Premier League games for Pep Guardiola’s men last season.
However, with Benjamin Mendy fit and City loaded with quality in attack, the 21-year-old’s chances of playing regular football next season will come at a premium.
So, from a player’s perspective, he should leave and join a club where he can clock regular first-team minutes. Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo can certainly provide him with the platform and game-time to prove his worth at the highest level.
Pep Guardiola already has backups for virtually every position and retaining Zinchenko doesn’t make sense.
With Mendy fit to start next season, Fabian Delph can handle the left-back spot. As far as the attack is concerned, the Cityzens are blessed with an abundance of talent and the subsequent addition of Riyad Mahrez will only close all doors for the Ukrainian.
To be fair, Zinchenko’s attributes are quite admirable. He is a pacy wide player who possesses the ability to defend and attack with equal power. The 21-year-old was mainly deployed as a left-back at the Etihad and he did a good job by providing an outlet for the Premier League champions.
However, selling him now would be great for the youngster’s career and he needs to get away from City to make a name for himself in the Premier League.

Zinchenko is one of the brighter talents in football who will improve when given regular playing time. At the Etihad, this doesn’t look possible at least for the next season or two. So, moving to the Molineux and grabbing some games for the newly-promoted club will help him two-fold.
The 21-year-old has bags of qualities and will also bring versatility to the current Wolves’ squad. Hence, the West Midlands outfit must go all out to sign him and City must not hesitate to offload him.
