According to a report from the Leicester Mercury, Leicester City are interested in signing Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake.
Nathan Ake, 24, enjoyed a good season with the Cherries, scoring four times in 38 Premier League games for Eddie Howe’s men. He has been a permanent fixture in Howe’s side and now has 117 Premier League appearances under his belt at the age of 24.
A Premier League-proven defender, the versatile Dutchman would be a great fit for Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City.
The Foxes have made some shrewd signings so far in the summer transfer window. Ayoze Perez and James Justin have arrived at the club, while the Midlands club have signed Youri Tielemans permanently.
However, Leicester are still expected to push on in the transfer window and add a couple more players before the transfer window slams shut, as Rodgers looks to add more quality to his squad.
One area the Northern Irish tactician must address is the defence, with star defender Harry Maguire heavily linked with a move to Manchester United. The Red Devils made an eye-watering offer of £70m for Maguire, a fee which City have rejected.
If United do eventually meet City’s valuation of the English defender, Rodgers would be left short in central defence. So with that in mind, Leicester should go all out to land Nathan Ake as a potential replacement for Maguire.
Ake has established himself as a fine centre-half in the Premier League and his consistent performances have also seen him break into Ronald Koeman’s plans for the Netherlands national team.
A left-footed defender, the Dutchman will offer Leicester a different option in central defence. His pace and strength are some of his star attributes, while his lean frame allows him to pose a threat in both boxes.

The former Chelsea defender should be an appealing option to Rodgers not only because of his homegrown status but also for his versatility. Ake also suits Rodgers’ style, as he is comfortable on the ball and can find the back of the net.
There are very few centre-backs in the world who are physically strong as well as technically-gifted as Ake is. At 24, there’s no reason to think he can’t maintain that advantage and potentially build on it in the years to come. He is definitely worth a punt for the ambitious Leicester City.
