Juventus manager Conte plea rejected

Juventus manager Antonio Conte faces a lengthy ban after having a plea bargain application rejected at Wednesday’s match-fixing trial. Last Friday it was reffered over bettin Scandal and the hearing was proposed to begin on August 1.

Conte plea rejected by Italian FA

Tthe FIGC’s disciplinary committee has rejected the plea deal agreed to by Juventus manager Antonio Conte and prosecutor Stefano Palazzi. The deal would have seen Conte suspended from the sidelines for three months and fined €200,000, however, the committee has deemed that the punishment is too light given the charges. Other deals being rejected are those of Angelo Alessio (Conte’s assistant manager at Juventus and Siena), Marco Savaroni (Siena goalkeeping coach), Giorgio D’Urbano (fitness coach), Dario Passoni, and Mirko Poloni of AlbinoLeffe.

At present the following punishments have been accepted:

Torino, one point penalty and €30,000 fine
Varese, one point penalty and €30,000 fine
Filippo Carobbio, additional four-month ban
Carlo Gervasoni, additional three-month and 20 day ban
Marcelo Larrondo, three-month and 20 day ban and €30,000 fine
Daniele Faggiano, four-month ban
Da Costa (Sampdoria), three month ban and €30,000 fine
Luigi Sala, two-year ban
Cristian Stellini, two year ban and €50,000 fine
