Joe Garner To Start: Strongest 4-2-3-1 Rangers Line-Up To Face Kilmarnock

Predicted Rangers XI To Face Kilmarnock

Pedro Caixinha will have been massively disappointed with his second game in charge of Rangers; a 1-1 draw with Motherwell in which they were booed off at half-time.

Of course, there has to be a ‘settling-in’ period for the Portuguese boss and the decisive action he took during the break, making all three substitutions at that point. The ‘honeymoon’ period does not last long at Rangers and results will need to improve quickly.

Goal scorer Joe Garner may come into the attack from the start this time around, while two of the three defenders Caixinha hauled off at Ibrox may miss out altogether, being replaced by James Tavernier and Danny Wilson.

Expected Starting XI:

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Pedro Caixinha

GK – Wes Foderingham

The former Swindon Town ‘keeper has played every league game for Rangers and will continue between the sticks.

RB – James Tavernier

It’ll be a huge relief that Tav is back from suspension. His attacking prowess down the right is a big part of Rangers’ play.

CB – Rob Kiernan

Rangers have quantity rather than quality at the back these days but Kiernan may play again, possibly alongside Danny Wilson this time.

CB – Danny Wilson

Now in his second spell at Ibrox, the Livingston-born defender may replace Clint Hill at centre-back.

LB – Lee Wallace

The third player who was substituted against Motherwell. The attacking left-back is generally rather influential and may get his place back for the trip to Rugby Park.

CM – Jason Holt

The former Hearts midfielder is most definitely coming of age now and is important to the Rangers set-up.

CM – Jon Toral

The on-loan Arsenal man will complete the all left-footed midfield and will start the game for Rangers.

RW – Martyn Waghorn

There may be a slight reshuffle up front for Rangers, with Waghorn moving back out to the right to accommodate Saturday’s goal scorer Joe Garner. Though Waghorn has only 6 goals this season, he remains dangerous.

CAM – Kenny Miller

Employed behind the striker by Caixinha rather than playing him as a striker, Miller’s experience and versatility is still of great value.

LW – Barrie McKay

Improving all the time, McKay has only missed one league game this season and will be desperate to play once more and add to his 3 Premiership goals.

ST – Joe Garner

After his vital equaliser at the weekend, Garner may well get his chance to impress from the start here. The 28-year-old striker reached his peak in League One when playing for Preston a few years ago; scoring 45 goals over two seasons and is definitely capable at this level.
