Jack and Morelos to start – Strongest 4-3-3 Rangers XI to face FC Ufa in the Europa League

Predicted Rangers line-up to face FC Ufa in the Europa League play-offs

Rangers are one step away from a lucrative spot in the Europa League group stage as they face Russia outfit FC Ufa in the first leg at Ibrox on Thursday.

An impressive 3-1 aggregate victory against Maribor has Steven Gerrard Rangers on the verge of sealing a place in the Europa League. Despite not being a household name, FC Ufa can cause serious problems to Rangers and Gerrard will be wary of the Russians’ threat.

A 3-1 victory at Kilmarnock in the Scottish League cup was the best way to prepare for Rangers ahead of an all-important Europa League play-off tie.

Team news

Gerrard could be without the services of Jamie Murphy for a long time after the winger appeared to twist his left knee during the win at Kilmarnock on Sunday.

Lassana Coulibaly remains a doubt for the game, while Graham Dorrans, Jordan Rossiter and Lee Wallace remain sidelined.

Probable Rangers XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Steven Gerrard

Allan McGregor (GK)

McGregor was a beast in Rangers’ draw at Maribor last week and will surely start the Europa League play-off first-leg against FC Ufa.

James Tavernier (RB)

Tavernier has been excellent since the start of the new season and will be hoping to continue his good form.

Connor Goldson (CB)

Goldson has slotted seamlessly into the side, dishing out commanding displays in defence. He is a sure starter against FC Ufa.

Nikola Katic (CB)

Katic has been a revelation since joining Rangers and all credits to Gerrard and Mark Allen for spotting a real gem.

Jon Flanagan (LB)

Despite being a right-footed defender, Flanagan has performed admirably well at left-back whenever called upon.

Scott Arfield (LCM)

Give Arfield the ball in tight space and he’ll find something to do with it. The former Falkirk and Burnley man knows how to dig in and do the defensive work, but he is equally adept at starting counter-attacks with ease.

Ryan Jack (CDM)

The Scotland international has arguably been one of the most impressive performers since Gerrard’s arrival at Ibrox and it appears that Jack is ready to stamp his authority as a holding midfielder.

Ovie Ejaria (RCM)

Ejaria has shown glimpses of his quality at Ibrox and will be happy playing on the right of a midfield four, or anywhere in attacking midfield.

Daniel Candeias (LW)

The Portuguese’s composure on the ball and willingness to play wherever the manager wants is worthy of praise.

Daniel Candeias

Ryan Kent (RW)

Kent had a solid game against Kilmarnock and will retain his place on the right-wing for the Europa League tie.

Alfredo Morelos (ST)

Morelos’ confidence must be at a high after a fantastic hat-trick against Kilmarnock on Sunday. Without any doubts, the Colombian will start up front for the Gers.
