Crystal Palace v Everton Report: Everton Match Report

Everton began their Premier League campaign with a streaky goalless draw against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. Jordan Pickford was the hero for the Toffees, as they played the last 14 minutes of the game with a man down.

The away side dominated the first half of the game, where Gylfi Sigurdsson was at the heart of most good things they did going forward. The Iceland international struck an effort from close range inches wide of the post.

Sigurdsson then had an effort blocked on the line, while Richarlison’s curling effort was narrowly wide of the post. Seamus Coleman had an attempt saved amidst all that.

Palace came into it after the break, without really creating a whole of lot clear-cut chances. Wilfried Zaha, who was a subject of intense transfer speculations throughout the summer window, was brought on in the 65th minute.

However, the Ivory Coast international failed to really ignite the game and decisively turn it in the favour of the home side.

Everton, on the other hand, went down to ten men after Morgan Schneiderlin fouled Luka Milivojevic to pick up his second yellow card of the game in the 76th minute.

From then on, it was all about Palace looking to find a winner but Everton keeper Jordan Pickford had other ideas. The England international blocked shots from Jordan Ayew and Max Meyer to keep the score-line level.

All in all, it has to be said that Everton should be relieved to get this point. Here’s how their fans reacted after the game:
