Aston Villa v Everton Report: Aston Villa Match Report

Aston Villa finally get on the points table by beating Everton 2-0 at a buoyant Villa Park to end their rotten run in the Premier League.

Wesley Moraes and Anwar El Ghazi were the scorers for Dean Smith’s men, who had to dug out this win under immense pressure from the Toffees.

The first 20 minutes of the game belonged to the away side, where they managed to move the ball faster and never allowed Villa to settle down in possession.

However, in the 21st minute, against the run of play, Wesley scored to put the Villans ahead. It came from a quick free-kick taken in midfield by Jack Grealish to free up Jota, who then delivered an inch-perfect through ball for the aforementioned striker to score.

Everton had their chance to equalise before half-time when Dominic Calvert-Lewin was beautifully found just around the penalty area. But the striker hit one of the Villa defenders who were tracking back to save the goal on the line.

Marco Silva’s men continued their charge after the break, without getting much joy. The manager then made a double substitution and brought new signings Alex Iwobi and Moise Kean.

The former made an instant impact with his direct running on the ball and was unlucky not to score in the 82nd minute, when his effort struck the post.

Then, in the 90th minute, Kean does brilliantly to turn away from a tight spot and dug in a cross for Theo Walcott to score from four yards out open goal. But the former Arsenal man managed to miss from there, much to the frustration of every single person associated/supporting Everton.

Aston Villa sealed the win two minutes later, when El Ghazi was fed in by John McGinn in the box. The former then kept his effort low to beat Jordan Pickford and send Villa Park into raptures.

All in all, a smash-and-grab win for the Villans, who won’t care about the mannerisms of this victory, as long as they are coming. Here’s how their fans reacted after this game:
