Is This Tottenham Superstar Ready To Take Over The Hot-Seat From Manchester United Veteran?

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has been identified as a potential successor to Wayne Rooney as regards the leadership role of the Three Lions’ dressing room.

The current skipper is set to retire from international duties after the Russia 2018 World Cup, and England’s interim manager Gareth Southgate, is looking at making the Tottenham vice-captain the national team captain once Rooney calls time on his England career.

Like many of his predecessors, many would like to know if the 23-year-old has got what it takes to make a fine leader on and off the pitch for the country. Aren’t the captain shoes too big for Kane to wear? Or will he help lead England to greater heights?

The questions are endless, but he looks certain to defy the odds and expectations if he gets the nod ahead of Jordan Henderson to captain the Three Lions, and it is also no flattery to say he would make a fine leader for the Three Lions.

Many who have worked with him confirms that Kane is a natural leader, and it is evident on the pitch in how he rallies his teammates whenever their spirits are down.

We all saw that against Arsenal as he gave Wimmer an assuring “no-problem” prep talk after his own goal and roused his fellow Spurs to get back into the game. They did, and he was very instrumental in ensuring that Tottenham left the Emirates with a point.

That and many instances continue to prove Kane is far more than capable of serving as an inspiration to his mates, and while Henderson, another candidate for the post is also able to equally do so, having someone who the coach understands and has a better rapport with is more appealing.

Southgate is in line to be permanently confirmed as England’s next coach, with the F.A looking to give him a chance to lead and take the country to the Russia World Cup. And having worked closely with Kane at the under-21’s, his judgement of the youngster’s capabilities of taking up the leadership mantle comes from a firsthand working relationship and assurance.

Kane is definitely ready to step up into the great role once Rooney departs. He is trusted enough by Mauricio Pochettino to be chosen as the 2nd-in-command of Tottenham’s squad, and it says a lot about his extraordinary leadership qualities.

England can do with a 25-year-old captain who is able to hang around for the next 5 – 6 years after the 2018 World Cup. Henderson would be 28 after Russia, and it is highly doubtful if a 32-year-old would be in England’s starting XI by the next World Cup.

That Kane will be on ground to lead England to the 2020 European Championships and the 2022 World Cup if he is confirmed as the next captain is more appealing.

Apart from the fact that there would be stability in the leadership of the dressing room in the long-term, having a talented skipper who is able to win and decide games with his goals and assists would be very great and inspirational for the squad.

Kane has everything it takes to replace Wayne Rooney as the next England captain, and he could be the one to lead them to glory on both continental and worldwide levels. The Tottenham goal machine is far more than ready to fill the leadership void the Red Devils’ legend is about to leave behind with the national side.
