Is David Moyes The Only Reason For Manchester United’s Poor Show?

Share

David Moyes has endured a poor start to his Manchester United career as the Red Devils have just two wins from the first six league games, worst in the Premier League era.

The former Everton manager took over Sir Alex Ferguson after United’s legendary manager stepped down from his post at the end of last season. Moyes officially took in charge of his new role at Old Trafford on July 1.

The Daily Mail reported that the club owners, the Glazers have issued Moyes’ late arrival as the reason behind United’s awful start to their title defence.

Soccer Souls will take a look at whether United’s owners and the club hierarchy’s opinion to the Scot’s delay in arrival as the reason behind the English champions’ poor run in the league so far.

The Premier League winners have managed to add Marouane Fellaini as the only high profile signings in the summer transfer window. The Belgium international arrived at the club after completing his £27.5m switch from Everton on the deadline day.

United have made approach in signing several midfielders. The list includes Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas, Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira, Athletic Bilbao star Ander Herrara and Gareth Bale were all been a transfer target for Moyes.

We believe should there be anyone to be blamed for United’s lack of transfer business; it has to be the club’s chief executive Ed Woodward. He replaced David Gill, who along with the great elder of Old Trafford also stepped down from his post earlier in the summer.

Woodward was the key man in attracting sponsors across the globe and was promoted to replace Gill as the club’s chief executive. However, he continued to attract sponsors in the summer, but was unsuccessful in adding any quality to the squad in terms of player signings.

United’s chief executive’s failure over the summer in bringing new faces to the club has seen Moyes and his men suffer a bad start to their Premier League campaign. Should there be any truth in the Daily Mail’s report, then the 50-year-old manager is not to be mainly blamed for the Red Devils current form this season.
