In Moyes We Trust vs. Moyes Out – Which Manchester United Fan You Are?

David Moyes, the man behind the recent ‘stock-market-exchange-graph‘ of displays has let down a lot of people this season: Fans, Staff and his Predecessor, the man who entrusted him with the keys to Old Trafford; legend and ambassador of Manchester United and Football itself, Sir Alex Ferguson.

There is absolutely no excuse when it comes to the poor performance by the team. But as the job requires, the manager always takes responsibility for the action that the team puts forward. I agree that injury woes plus the lack of commitment from players has seen a dip. But motivation and bringing the team together for a coordinated effort is what the Scottish head has failed to do.

Ever since the season started, it has been rough and the past few game-weeks has resulted in two types of fans:

1. Fans saying #InMoyesWeTrust

2. Fans saying #MoyesOut

Taking both arguments into consideration, the latter has a valid point. While most people say that we should cut him some slack, give him a year or two, everyone seems to be forgetting the fact that the opposition teams are building their tactics, players and chemistry in that time period. No doubt it is shown this year, with teams like Everton, Swansea and Southampton on the rise. Another point to be noted is couple of plastic fans say that he is new and fresh to the atmosphere at United. Hello? Lame excuse. Early in his reign at Manchester City, Manuel Pellegrini has seen his side through with good performances and solid players to fill positions, both attack and defense.

Now coming to the most bizzare of comparisons. They say Sir Alex also had a horrible start to his campaign and he turned out to be a legend. So will Moyes. People, people, calm down. When Sir Alex started, he was given a team of unknowns which he built step by step and after 26 years, he certainly deserves his spot in the Hall of Fame. On the other hand, David Moyes was hand given an English Champion side with a large sum of money to spend and bring in players better suited to United way of playing.

The Scottish manager has to get his head straight and start picking up the pieces. Team selection and formation is pretty poor at the moment. Putting Fellaini in the central midfield? I could put a brick there in the same place and it would be on the same level as him. Kagawa should have been a regular starter from the beginning itself. No he’s taking his time to adjust. Valencia should be replaced by Januzaj or Zaha. Clearly, his crosses are under 50% of completion in each and every game. Smalling needs to pick up the pace and not run head on onto a defender.

With Carrick and van Persie out of contention, most of the workload has fallen on the shoulders of Evra, Giggs, Rooney and De Gea. These 4 players are the only ones who see, to be putting their personal best on the field. What Moyes needs to do is pull them together and make them play as unit. Get them up the field rather than pushing back constantly.

Now I don’t wanna sound like I’m telling what to do but it isn’t showing up on the pitch. Fans like me are just waiting in anticipation to see some form of brilliance on the field. Now is that too much to ask for or what?
