Dream Arsenal XI featuring Steven N’zonzi

Unai Emery has wasted no time since his arrival at Arsenal, signing on the likes of Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bernd Leno and Sokratis Papasthathopoulos.

With Arsenal needing to shore up their defence owing to a long-term injury to Koscielny and the relative underperformance of Mustafi and Bellerin, they also need a midfielder who can cover their defence when they attack in full flow.

Steven N’Zonzi is one name who has been linked with a move to the Gunners and his relationship with old boss Emery could tempt him to jump ship. The player has a £35m release clause and if he moves to the Emirates, here is how Arsenal could line up next season:

Dream Arsenal XI

Bernd Leno (Goalkeeper)

The German shot-stopper knows he will face a bigger challenge in the Premier League and having a good defence in front of him will bolster his confidence.

Nacho Monreal (Left-back)

The Spanish left-back put in some good performances last season to warrant a starting spot. He will bombard down the left and look to link up with the forwards.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos

Sokratis Papasthathopoulos (Centre-back)

Arsenal’s new signing could turn out to be a great one if he does what he does best – command the defence. Sokratis had phases at Dortmund where he could tower over everyone else and dominate games and the Gunners be looking forward to that.

Shkodran Mustafi (Centre-back)

With Koscielny out of the picture due to his long-term injury, Mustafi should partner with Sokratis in the Arsenal backline.

Stephan Lichtsteiner (Right-back)

Arsenal’s new 35-year-old signing will be full of running and will certainly add another dimension down the right-hand side.

Stephan Lichtsteiner

Steven N’Zonzi (CDM)

If N’Zonzi completes a move to Arsenal, he can really be the player who can dominate the midfield and provide the necessary assists to link the defence and the attack.

Aaron Ramsey (CM)

Ramsey is another player who can change the game when allowed to move forward. He has great technique and his ability to finish well could see him start more often under Emery.

Mesut Ozil (CAM)

The German playmaker should be in the hole behind the striker and he can play his magical through balls to unleash the likes of Lacazette and Aubameyang.

Mesut Ozil

Henrikh Mkhitaryan (RAM)

The Armenian has shown that he can fit in better when he plays in a system that suits his play and next season, big things are expected

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (LAM)

Arsenal’s biggest threat in the attack, Aubameyang will wreak havoc down the left and look to move more central to score more.

Alexandre Lacazette (ST)

The Frenchman has the ability to finish well in a system that suits his play and with such a stellar set of players providing him service, he can improve this season.
