Liverpool predicted line-up for their pre-season friendly against Chester

Liverpool will kick off their pre-season campaign with a friendly against Chester FC at the Swansway Chester Stadium on Saturday.

This is the first of nine pre-season friendlies for the Reds as they prepare for their 2018-19 Premier League opener against West Ham on August 11.

Many of Liverpool’s stars are away on World Cup duty. Despite Egypt and Senegal being knocked out in the group stage in Russia, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will not feature, as they take a break before heading back to England.

Jurgen Klopp revealed that new signings Naby Keita and Fabinho will be involved in the game against Chester.

Jurgen Klopp

Without much delay, let us have a look at the probable Liverpool line-up that could face Chester.

Predicted Liverpool line-up vs Chester

Manager: Jurgen Klopp

Formation: 4-3-3

Loris Karius (GK)

After a disastrous outing in the Champions League final, Karius’ Liverpool career is on the edge. However, he should be between the sticks on Saturday with Simon Mignolet away on World Cup duty.

Nathaniel Clyne (RB)

Nathaniel Clyne returned from a long injury lay-off, towards the business end of last campaign. Now back to full fitness, he is expected to start at right-back.

Joe Gomez (CB)

After missing out on the World Cup due to an injury, Gomez is back to full fitness and could start in central defence.

Joe Gomez

Ragnar Klavan (CB)

Ragnar Klavan had an injury-hit 2017-18 campaign but he would be hoping to make a strong impact this season. He is expected to partner Gomez in central defence.

Andrew Robertson (LB)

One of Liverpool’s star performers last campaign, Robertson has established himself as Liverpool’s first-choice left-back and should start against Chester.

Fabinho (CDM)

One of Liverpool’s new recruits, Fabinho is a defensive midfielder by trade but due to his versatility, he can play in central defence and also at right-back.

Naby Keita (RCM)

Another new signing, Keita is a box-to-box midfielder with fantastic passing and dribbling abilities. The Guinean made his name at RB Leipzig and will surely be a player worth keeping an eye on.

James Milner (LCM)

A workhorse, Milner seems to get better with age and expect him to play in central midfield.

Ben Woodburn (LW)

One of Liverpool’s emerging talents, Ben Woodburn was unlucky not to get first-team opportunities last season but is surely destined for a bright future.

Danny Ings (RW)

An odd position to start at but Ings will be determined to prove a point to his manager, on Saturday.

Daniel Sturridge (ST)

After a flop spell on loan at West Brom, Sturridge is back and will look to impress Klopp. With Firmino away on World Cup duty, Sturridge has a glorious chance to make a mark in pre-season.
