How Chelsea could line up with Gonzalo Higuain in the team

According to reports, Juventus star striker Gonzalo Higuain is for sale this summer.

The Serie A champions have completed the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid for a transfer fee of €100 million plus bonus. Following the arrival of the Portuguese superstar, it seems like Juventus are ready to offload Higuain in the summer transfer window.

The Argentine is valued at around €54m and Premier League club Chelsea have reportedly shown an interest in signing the 30-year-old forward.

Maurizio Sarri is set to replace Antonio Conte as Chelsea’s new head coach. Should the Blues complete the signing of Higuain after Sarri’s appointment, here is how they could line up in the 2018/19 season.

Chelsea lineup fitting in Gonzalo Higuain

Manager: Maurizio Sarri

Formation: 4-3-3

Thibaut Courtois (GK)

Thibaut Courtois has a year left on his current deal and there have not been any talks about an extension. However, could Sarri’s appointment turn the Belgian’s head? It remains to be seen what happens but for now, Courtois remains Chelsea’s undisputed No.1 in goal.

Cesar Azpilicueta (RB)

Azpilicueta was one of the few consistent performers at Chelsea last season and could be stationed at right-back under Sarri.

Andreas Christensen (CB)

Just like Azpilicueta, Christensen largely impressed for the Blues. The Dane is a ball-playing defender capable of starting attacks from the back.

Andreas Christensen

Antonio Rudiger (CB)

Partnering Christensen in central defence should be Rudiger, who endured a mixed debut season at Stamford Bridge. Rudiger would be expected to come good in the upcoming season after a top-class show in the FA Cup final victory over Manchester United.

Marcos Alonso (LB)

Marcos Alonso was decent in the past season but his influence was less when compared to Chelsea’s title-winning campaign under Conte. However, the Spaniard would be raring to impress Sarri and hold down a place at left-back.

N’Golo Kante (CDM)

Chelsea’s engine, Kante has been a stellar performer since joining the club from Leicester and will again have a big part to play under Sarri.

Tiemoue Bakayoko

Tiemoue Bakayoko (RCM)

A big-money flop, Bakayoko will be desperate to make a mark this season and silence his naysayers. The Frenchman needs a run of games to get back his mojo.

Ross Barkley (LCM)

A January recruit from Everton, Barkley struggled to get into the starting XI due to persistent injury problems. Under the management of Sarri, the midfielder could successfully reboot his stuttering career.

Eden Hazard (LW)

Hazard has had a fantastic World Cup with Belgium but his team fell short in the semi-finals against France. However, he will have a big role to play against England in the third-place play-off on Saturday.

Willian (RW)

Willian underwhelmed in the World Cup with Brazil but could be an important player for Sarri this term. The 29-year-old’s pace and trickery make him one of the most dangerous forwards in the Premier League.

Gonzalo Higuain

Gonzalo Higuain (ST)

Higuain became a beast in front of goal under Sarri at Napoli and the duo could work wonders at Stamford Bridge in the 2018/19 campaign. A powerful and prolific goalscorer, the Argentine will be a smash hit in the Premier League.
