Predicted Man United line-up to face Southampton in the Premier League

Manchester United face a visit to St. Mary’s as they take on Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Red Devils have struggled so far this season and lie seventh in the Premier League table, 14 points behind leaders Manchester City and seven behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

But after qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League with a win over Young Boys in midweek, Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United will be confident of getting the job done against a lowly Southampton side, who are in the relegation zone.

Team News

Victor Lindelof could be out for three to four weeks after hurting his hamstring in the game against Crystal Palace. Marcos Rojo, Matteo Darmian and Diogo Dalot could also miss Saturday’s game with minor injuries.

Probable Manchester United XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Jose Mourinho

David De Gea (GK)

Arguably the best in the business, De Gea is set to keep his place in the team.

Chris Smalling

Ashley Young (RB)

Young will look to contribute as much as he can to the United attacks from the right.

Phil Jones (CB)

Lindelof’s injury has opened the door for Phil Jones and the England international must grab the opportunities with both hands.

Chris Smalling (CB)

Smalling has become a permanent fixture in the team and will retain his place against the Saints.

Luke Shaw (LB)

After serving a one-game suspension, Shaw should walk back into the starting XI. He has been one of United’s very few consistent performers this season.

Nemanja Matic (CDM)

Hasn’t been up to his usual standards this season, yet he has been constantly backed by Mourinho.

Paul Pogba (LCM)

Pogba has the ability to change games in one blink of an eye. The Frenchman will look to deliver the goods on Saturday and guide his team to three points.

Marouane Fellaini (RCM)

Fellaini scored an all-important winner against Young Boys that saw United advance to the knockout stages of the Champions League. Against Southampton, the big Belgian is a certain starter.

Jesse Lingard (RW)

Mourinho could go with Lingard on the right as the academy graduate’s energy and directness could cause problems to Southampton’s shaky defence.

Romelu Lukaku

Anthony Martial (LW)

Martial has blown cold in the last two games but he remains United’s top-scorer this season and should start the game at the south coast.

Romelu Lukaku (ST)

Lukaku is on a long dry spell without goals at the moment. He will fancy his chances against a low-key Southampton side to break his goal drought.
