Predicted Arsenal line-up to face Huddersfield Town in the Premier League

The 3-1 loss to Manchester City hurt Arsenal’s chances of a top-four finish this season. With games against Huddersfield, Southampton and Bournemouth in the coming weeks, they can get their season back on track.

However, things will get harder before it gets easier and with a catalogue of injuries, which includes Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Hector Bellerin among others, Arsenal are in trouble.

Huddersfield Town, on the other hand, are the top bet as the first team to get relegated this season, with the Terriers currently sitting rock-bottom in the Premier League table. The Terriers need to win atleast 10 of their next 11 games to ensure survival but with games against Wolves, Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham and even Liverpool yet to come, the future looks bleak.

Things should get interesting and with Arsenal looking to head into their Europa League fixture with a win in their rear-view mirror, Huddersfield Town could end up on the wrong side of things. But this is football, where the unpredictable is expected, loved and even welcomed at times. While it may end up as an Arsenal win, nobody can call the game.

Team News

Shkodran Mustafi limped out of the 3-1 defeat to Manchester City, with Konstantinos Mavropanos replacing the German international. In all likelihood, he should miss this one too. Other than that, Danny Welbeck, Rob Holding, Hector Bellerin, Sokratis, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Granit Xhaka are also ruled out.

But the good news for Arsenal is that Henrikh Mkhitaryan is back in action and could possibly make the starting eleven against Huddersfield Town.

Probable Arsenal XI

Formation: 4-3-1-2

Manager: Unai Emery

Bernd Leno (GK)

The German international has been Unai Emery’s main Premier League goal-keeper for a little over six months and he should keep his place.

Sead Kolasinac (LB)

While the Bosnian international did play a rather unorthodox role against Manchester City, Kolasinac should revert to his usual position as left-back on Saturday.

Konstantinos Mavropanos (CB)

The Greek defender is highly thought of at Arsenal and replaced Mustafi quite effectively, which should see him keep his place in the starting eleven.

Laurent Koscielny (CB)

Arsenal’s mainstay, Koscielny scored the Gunners’ lone goal against Manchester City, and will keep his place in the team.

Stephan Lichtsteiner (RB)

With Hector Bellerin out injured and Carl Jenkinson lacking game-time, the veteran Swiss international should keep his place in the Arsenal line-up unless something major occurs.

Mohamed Elneny (CDM)

Granit Xhaka usually occupies this position but like many others, the Swiss international is also injured and like against Cardiff City, Elneny should deputise until his return.

Lucas Torreira (CM)

Easily among Arsenal’s best players so far this season, the Uruguayan has been in fine form for the club and should continue to start.

Matteo Guendouzi (CM)

The Frenchman has hit a rich vein of form recently and was excellent against both Cardiff City and in the loss to Manchester City. This combined with the injury issues should see him keep his place.

Aaron Ramsey (CAM)

While Mesut Ozil is fully fit, Unai Emery hasn’t utilised the German regularly but he has used Ramsey though and the Welshman should start.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (LS)

Arsenal’s top scorer by some margin, the 28-year-old failed to make an impact against Manchester City and will hope to get back on the score-sheet.

Alexandre Lacazette (RS)

The Frenchman, like Matteo Guendouzi, has been in fine form recently, having scored three goals in his last four games in the Premier League alone. Expect him to partner Aubameyang.
