Manchester United vs Burnley Predictions: Manchester United Lineup

Manchester United host Burnley on Tuesday night, seeking their ninth straight win under caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Red Devils have won each of their last eight matches, including six in the Premier League, to move to within three points of fourth-placed Chelsea in the table. Solskjaer was appointed with the view to bring back the feel-good factor at Old Trafford and while that has undoubtedly been the case, the results have been remarkable as well.

Burnley, on the other hand, look revitalised of late, having picked up 10 points from their last four matches and will look to end United’s winning run under Solskjaer.

Team News

Defender Chris Smalling has finally recovered from a knock, and he could be in the Manchester United squad to face Burnley. But Marcos Rojo and Marouane Fellaini remain sidelined with injuries.

Probable Manchester United Lineup

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

David De Gea (GK)

De Gea was rested for Friday’s FA Cup tie with Arsenal, but the Spaniard will return between the sticks.

Diogo Dalot (RB)

Dalot has been impressive with his attacking displays under Solskjaer. He could get the nod ahead of Young at right-back.

Victor Lindelof (CB)

Lindelof is playing the best bit of football of late in Manchester United colours. The Swede is a certain starter against Burnley.

Phil Jones (CB)

Jones has done well lately, forming a solid partnership in central defence with Lindelof. However, he’ll have his task cut out to keep Chris Wood at bay on Tuesday.

Luke Shaw (LB)

Shaw was really good in the FA Cup win over Arsenal and deserves to keep his place in the team for the midweek league game.

Nemanja Matic (CM)

Matic has been rejuvenated since Solskjaer’s appointment and he’ll look to guide Manchester United to all three points against Burnley.

Ander Herrera (CM)

Herrera adds a lot of bite and tenacity to the midfield. He’ll continue partnering Matic in central midfield.

Anthony Martial (LW)

Martial came off the bench and scored in the 3-1 victory over Arsenal in the FA Cup on Friday. The Frenchman is likely to be handed a start against Sean Dyche’s Burnley.

Paul Pogba (CAM)

Pogba is flying under the new Manchester United boss, assisting and scoring goals for fun, and also playing like a free spirit. He deserves to keep his place in the team.

Alexis Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez (RW)

Sanchez’s goal against his former club Arsenal could finally kickstart his Manchester United career. The Chilean could be handed a free role on the right wing ahead of Lingard on Tuesday.

Marcus Rashford (ST)

There’s no stopping the red-hot Rashford at the moment and he’ll again be tasked with leading United’s attack.
