Predicted Everton line-up to face Southampton in the Premier League

Everton have had a difficult season so far, considering the purchases that they were able to complete over the summer. While they were probably confident about a top-half finish, the current predicament sees that the Toffees have won just 2 of their last 9 games in the league, so they will be looking for a victory against Southampton.

Last time out, Everton came up with the goods to beat Bournemouth 2-0 at Goodison Park. The last time the Toffees and the Saints faced off was on the 18th of August and the Toffees came out as eventual 2-1 winners, with Theo Walcott and Richarlison getting the goals.

Team News

Everton have no fresh injury concerns, with James McCarthy still unavailable, leaving the Toffees with a strong available squad for selection.

Probable Everton XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

GK – Jordan Pickford

The English international has been the first choice at Goodison Park for a while now and don’t expect that to change anytime soon either.

RB – Seamus Coleman

Certainly the most experienced right-back available to Marco Silva, he is a threat going forward as well, which will be crucial for Everton in a game like this.

Michael Keane

RCB – Michael Keane

Capable of playing some very good long balls and extremely composed while defending, Keane has the potential to be Everton’s captain in the future and should keep his starting spot.

LCB – Kurt Zouma

The Frenchman is a solid figure at the back and has been quite good for the Toffees this term. Having scored his first Everton goal recently, expect Zouma to play on Saturday.

LB – Lucas Digne

Everton’s most in-form player, he has been a nuisance to the opposition defenders with his daring runs, brilliant crosses and top quality defensive cover.

RCM – Andre Gomes

The loanee has slowly worked his way into the starting line-up over the last few weeks and has shown his class on multiple occasions.

LCM – Idrissa Gana Gueye

Arguably Everton’s best player, he has been crucial to this Everton side with his destruction in the midfield as well as inventiveness in transition.

RM – Theo Walcott

After coming on a sub to replace Ademola Lookman in the previous match, expect this English veteran to be on the starting line-up again for the trip to St.Mary’s.

CAM – Gylfi Sigurdsson

A pass master, his intelligence on the ball will be key to breaking this Southampton team down. It will be unsurprising if he pitches in with a goal too.

Richarlison

LM – Richarlison

Easily their most potent goal-scoring threat, expect to see Richarlison back on his preferred left-wing position to make room for a proper striker upfront.

CF – Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Came off the bench to score in stoppage time against Bournemouth last weekend, so expect the youngster to lead the line for Marco Silva again
