Celtic FC vs Partick Thistle Prediction: Celtic FC line-up

Defending champions Celtic welcome Partick Thistle to Celtic Park for a Scottish League Cup quarter-final tie on Wednesday.

The Hoops followed up Thursday’s 1-1 Europa League draw against Rennes with a 3-1 win over Kilmarnock at Parkhead to make it six wins from six in the Premiership.

Having made 11 additions over the summer, the Scottish League Cup game with Partick Thistle could see Neil Lennon rotate his squad, although the manager insisted he won’t take Wednesday night’s game lightly by resting key players.

Team News

Christopher Jullien and Moritz Bauer hobbled off late in the clash against Kilmarnock. However, Lennon expects the duo to be fine.

Meanwhile, Jozo Simunovic faces further time on the sidelines as he gets set for knee surgery.

Probable Celtic XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Neil Lennon

Fraser Forster (GK)

Forster saved a penalty in Celtic’s 3-1 win over Kilmarnock at the weekend. He is expected to keep his place in goal.

Hatem Abd Elhamed (RB)

With Bauer taking a knock during Sunday’s game, Lennon may not risk the Swiss and instead, go for Elhamed at right-back against Partick Thistle.

Nir Bitton (CB)

Just like Bauer, Jullien limped off late against Killie and that could see Lennon rest the towering French defender and replace him with Nir Bitton in central defence.

Kristoffer Ajer (CB)

Ajer was decent on Sunday and is expected to partner Bitton in central defence for the upcoming Scottish League Cup game.

Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo (LB)

Bolingoli-Mbombo is slowly showing signs of adapting to Scottish football. He is a certain starter for Wednesday’s fixture.

Olivier Ntcham (CM)

A strong and powerful presence, Ntcham could start in central midfield against Partick Thistle.

Callum McGregor (CM)

Partnering Ntcham in central midfield will likely be McGregor, who possesses the quality to dictate the tempo of the game and keep things tick over for his team.

James Forrest (RW)

Forrest is one of Celtic’s most important players and he is a certainty to start in the Scottish League Cup quarter-finals.

Tom Rogic (CAM)

Rogic hasn’t played much after returning back from an ankle injury he picked up back in May. With the Australian now fully fit, he could be handed a start on Wednesday.

Ryan Christie (LW)

Christie has been fantastic for Celtic this season, bagging five goals and two assists in six games so far. He will undoubtedly start the upcoming game.

Odsonne Edouard (ST)

Edouard is also in hot form at the moment, scoring goals for fun. The Frenchman will once again lead the Hoops’ attack.
