Rangers vs Motherwell Prediction – Rangers line-up

An incredible defeat in the Old Firm derby followed by a comfortable win over the Hearts of Midlothian has marked the Rangers’ season. Inconsistent performances have affected the club but they will still finish in the top half of the table.

With just one game left in the first phase of the Scottish Premiership, Rangers will finish second in the league. However, that doesn’t mean that they cannot end the season on a high. Facing Motherwell, who currently sit in eighth place, could be the perfect end to the season.

The Steelmen have only managed 13 wins to their name this season and are on an inconsistent run. They’ve managed just two wins in their last five games, losing two and drawing the final game.

Team News

Both Alfredo Morelos and Andy Halliday are suspended for the clash after their involvement in the Old Firm. Borna Barisic, Gareth McAuley, Matt Polster and Jamie Murphy are still out with various forms of injuries.

While Barisic, McAuley and Polster have to pass a fitness test, but still might not make the final cut.

Probable Rangers XI

Formation: 4-1-4-1

Manager: Steven Gerrard

Allan McGregor (GK)

The veteran is Steven Gerrard’s first-choice keeper and should find himself in goal for the weekend clash.

James Tavernier (RB)

In fantastic form this season, the captain has struggled over the last few weeks but should still make the cut.

Conor Goldson (CB)

A solid presence at the back for the Rangers this season, the 26 year old should make the cut once again over the weekend.

Joe Worrall (CB)

His performances has been comparatively good for the club, and with suspensions in other areas, he will make the cut.

Jon Flanagan (LB)

The above-mentioned suspensions and injuries saw the Liverpool loanee make the cut for the clash against Hearts of Midlothian.

Ryan Jack (CDM)

His miss came back to haunt Rangers in the derby. However, the past should be ignored and Jack must focus on holding the midfield together against Hearts.

Daniel Candeias (RM)

He has been a regular presence in Steven Gerrard’s side but needs to up his game if the club are to benefit from his abilities.

Lassana Coulibaly  (RCM)

The young midfielder has been in good form for the club and his stamina combined with his work-ethic should see him play a role.

Glen Kamara (LCM)

While he hasn’t had the best time in midfield, the 23-year-old has shown improvement in recent weeks

Ryan Kent (LM)

He scored an absolute stunner against Celtic but in the end that meant, less than anything. However, Kent’s talent and ability on the ball has made him a big part of Steven Gerrard’s squad.

Tom Landry once said "Football is an incredible game. Sometimes it's so incredible, it's unbelievable." Football is and always will be the beautiful game. What every child understands, yet every adult struggles to, is that it is a game that defines the nature of the universe. But that's just me.
