Hearts vs Rangers FC predictions – Rangers FC line-up

Rangers would be aiming to make a good start to the second phase of the Scottish Premiership season when they face Hearts at Tynecastle stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Gers finished the first phase 11 points behind leaders Celtic. They know a defeat this weekend could take the Hoops very close to the coronation. Hence, it is a must that they keep winning games and delay the inevitable.

Steven Gerrard’s men got a weekend off, as they were not involved in the Scottish Cup. The last time they played a game, a win over Motherwell was registered.

On the other hand, Hearts won’t be pushovers and would be a tough nut to crack, especially at home. Thus, Rangers have to play well to beat them.

Team News

This will be the last of the three-game suspension that Alfredo Morelos was given once he received a straight red card against Celtic. Borna Barisic’s injury hasn’t really improved markedly and he could miss this game as well.

Gareth McAuley’s hamstring issue needs to be assessed on a day-to-day basis. Jamie Muprhy is out until the end of this month.

Probable Rangers XI

Formation: 4-1-4-1

Manager: Steven Gerrard

Allan McGregor (GK)

The veteran is their first-choice keeper and should be in goal on Saturday.

James Tavernier (RB)

The captain has had a decent season at right-back. He should continue to start there for the remaining games.

Connor Goldson (CB)

The former Brighton man has been a regular figure at the back for the Gers. His consistency is one of the positives. He should start against Hearts.

Nikola Katic (CB)

He is been in and out of the side over the past few months. The Croat should get more chances to prove his worth in the team.

Andy Halliday (LB)

Halliday was benched against Motherwell last time out, with Jon Flanagan getting a chance. The former should come back into the XI.

Ryan Jack (CDM)

Jack protects the back-line well and passes the ball with accuracy. He is a key player in this team and should start every remaining game.

Steven Davis (LCM)

With every passing game, the Southampton loanee is looking like a positive addition to the squad. He is expected to keep his place in the midfield.

Glen Kamara (RCM)

The January signing has impressed since arriving and has cemented his place in the midfield. We are almost certain to see him in action on Saturday.

Ryan Kent (LW)

He was suspended for two games following that Old Firm Derby incident with Scott Brown. The Liverpool loanee is back available for selection and should start against Hearts.

Scott Arfield (RW)

Daniel Candeias has slightly gone off the boil in the past few weeks and Arfield is growing in stature as a Rangers player. Hence, the latter should get the nod.

Jermaine Defoe (ST)

In the absence of Morelos, Defoe is most certainly expected to lead the line for the Gers.
