Predicted Leeds United line-up to face Stoke City in the Championship

Championship leaders Leeds United will be aiming to continue the winning form they rediscovered by beating Derby County when they face Stoke City at Bet365 stadium this Saturday. After two consecutive defeats during the end of December and early January, Marcelo Bielsa’s men defeated the Rams last week to move four points clear at the top of the table.

They are up against a Stoke team who haven’t won a league game in four outings and lost to Shrewsbury in the FA Cup replay last night. Hence, on paper, the Peacocks should fancy getting points but every game has its own level of toughness. And the Potters will try to make it as tough as possible.

Team News

This is the last game of suspension for Kalvin Phillips and he will be back in action next week. Barry Douglas has a slight injury which he suffered against Nottingham Forest and is expected to be out for this game.

Patrick Bamford is back in training but may not be risked for this game. Stuart Dallas is also back in training but is way off the mark from first-team action. Gaetano Berardi will be back by mid-February.

Probable Leeds United XI

Formation: 4-1-4-1

Manager: Marcelo Bielsa

Bailey Peacock-Farrell (GK)

He plays every game regardless of the performance level. Had very little to do in the previous game and he would be hoping that his defenders do the job this weekend as well.

Luke Ayling (RB)

He is back fit and is playing games on a regular basis at a high level now. A constant figure at right-back.

Pontus Jansson

Pontus Jansson (CB)

He received treatment after the Derby game as the pain was evident, but is expected to be fit for this match.

Liam Cooper (CB)

The captain made a comeback from injury last week and did not put a foot wrong. His presence at the back is crucial for the Peacocks.

Ezgjan Alioski (LB)

In the absence of Douglas, Alioski did a very good job at left-back last week. Expect him to do the same with the regular left-back still injured.

Adam Forshaw (CDM)

Ever since he took over the defensive midfield role, he has done a decent job, more so in the previous game.

Mateusz Klich

Jack Clarke (RW)

The youngster is growing in confidence after every game and is making himself available for selection due to his terrific displays on the field. With Pablo Hernandez playing in the midfield due to a shortage of options, Clarke has taken his chance with both hands.

Mateusz Klich (RCM)

A hard-working player in the middle of the park and always gives his 100% for the team.

Pablo Hernandez (LCM)

He has done a good job when called upon to play in the midfield. The Spaniard’s quality on the ball shines makes the difference at times.

Kemar Roofe

Jack Harrison (LW)

With Alioski temporarily shifting to left-back, Harrison has taken over the left-wing spot. Should start.

Kemar Roofe (ST)

Scored again last week as he continues his hot form in front of the goal. He is one of the most important players in the team.
