Tottenham vs Brighton predictions: Tottenham line-up

Tottenham lost, drew and beat Manchester City all over the course of two games in the Champions League. Then, they went and fought their way to a 1-0 defeat over the weekend against the Cityzens again. That final defeat may have hurt their chances of finishing in the top four.

Every club needs a rest and that’s exactly what Brighton will provide the North London side with. There is no doubting the strength and ability that both sides have, but given the Seagulls’ recent run of form, their position in the Premier League is hanging on the edge.

This is a must win game for both sides, but for Tottenham, it affords manager Mauricio Pochettino the chance to change things. However, no matter how much he changes around his team, they need to be at their best to fight a Brighton fighting for their lives.

Team News

Harry Kane is potentially out for the season (Guardian) and both Hugo Lloris and Moussa Sissoko are also injured. This does give manager Mauricio Pochettino a headache but Eric Dier is back to full fitness.

Barring that, Pochettino still has Eric Lamela, Harry Winks and Serge Aurier out with long-term injuries.

Probable Tottenham XI

Formation: 3-4-3

Manager: Mauricio Pochettino

Paulo Gazzaniga (GK)

With Hugo Lloris in doubt for the clash against Brighton, Gazzaniga could keep his place in the team-sheet.

Davinson Sanchez (CB)

The young Colombian did relatively well against Manchester City, and that should be enough for him to keep his place.

Jan Vertoghen (CB)

A leader at the back, the 31-year-old has done well since his return from injury and will lead the line.

Juan Foyth (CB)

With a tough run of fixtures behind them, this could be a chance to rest key stars and thus the young Argentine gets a chance to impress.

Kyle Walker-Peters (RWB)

Another youngster, the 21-year-old has done relatively well when called upon and thus should find a place in the starting eleven.

Eric Dier (CM)

With injuries elsewhere, there is a chance that Mauricio Pochettino could opt for the Englishman in midfield.

Victor Wanyama (CM)

Very impressive coming off the bench over the last few weeks, Wanyama should find his way back onto the team-sheet.

Danny Rose (LWB)

Rested for the Manchester City clash, Rose only walked off the bench towards the end of the game.

Christian Eriksen (RAM)

Tottenham’s best player when in form, the Danish midfielder should start.

Heung-Min Son (LAM)

Among the club’s best players this season, Son needs to keep his place, if Tottenham wants a top-four berth for themselves.

Fernando Llorente (CF)

The big burly center-forward should make the final cut, against a struggling and a rather physical Brighton back-line.

Siddhant Lazar

Tom Landry once said "Football is an incredible game. Sometimes it's so incredible, it's unbelievable." Football is and always will be the beautiful game. What every child understands, yet every adult struggles to, is that it is a game that defines the nature of the universe. But that's just me.
