After getting a point with a late equaliser against Fulham, Wolves would be aiming to get a similar result when they face an in-form Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley this Saturday. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men went behind on Boxing Day but showed the character to restore parity before the final whistle.
That result means they have taken 10 points out of the possible 18 in December, which is pretty good.
However, the Old Gold are up against a Spurs team who are in hot form at the moment. Mauricio Pochettino’s men are not only solid but are scoring goals for fun – 11 in their previous two games. As of now, the London-based club are genuine title contenders. Hence, it won’t be easy for Wolves even to get a point away at Wembley.
Diogo Jota is fit now but the Spurs game could come in a tad early for him. Leander Dendoncker is out with illness and might not be in the squad for the Saturday game.
The Portuguese has been a good addition to the team in the summer. He starts every league game.
The key to Wolves’ progress this season has been a solid and defiant back-line, and Bennett is a massive part of it.
The captain has been just phenomenal in the centre of the defence. His defending and passing range from the back is exceptional.
The Frenchman has done well in a back-three that hasn’t shipped many goals in this season.
The buccaneering wing-back is doing a good job for Wolves. His forward runs are always a threat to the opposition defenders.
A defensive-minded midfield presence would be helpful against a team like Tottenham, who are bound to dominate possession.
He was left out of the previous game and probably needed a rest. Expect him to slot back into the line-up.
Spurs could overrun the Wolves midfield if Moutinho plays in a deeper role. The best option is for the 32-year-old play in a free role behind the front men.
The Spaniard starts every game at left wing-back. He will do so on Saturday too.
He didn’t start against Fulham but is expected to do so this weekend.
