Chelsea vs Arsenal Predictions: Predicted Arsenal line-up

Arsenal will take on London rivals Chelsea in the Europa League final on Wednesday. The Gunners tore apart Valencia in the semi-finals to book their place in Baku and they will now have to finish the job.

The Gunners are in their first European final since the heartbreaking loss to Barcelona in 2006. Unai Emery is the most successful manager in the competition’s history and he will be looking to add another Europa League title into his trophy cabinet on Wednesday.

Team News

Aaron Ramsey, Hector Bellerin and Rob Holding are all ruled out of the tie but long-term absentee Danny Welbeck has been training with the first-team and has a slim chance to be available for the final.

Probable Arsenal XI

Formation: 3-4-1-2

Manager: Unai Emery

Petr Cech (GK)

The veteran is expected to continue in goal against his former club in what will be his final game as a professional footballer.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos (CB)

The Greek international had an immense game when the two sides met last time and if he performs the same way, Arsenal’s chances of getting their hands on the trophy will massively increase.

Laurent Koscielny (CB)

The skipper has had a difficult 12 months after missing lasts season’s semi-finals as well as France’s World Cup’s triumph. He will be rearing to go in the final and nobody deserves a win more.

Nacho Monreal (CB)

The former Malaga man has settled in well on the left side of defence but he will have to be wary of Chelsea’s wide players cutting inside.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles (RWB)

One of Arsenal’s most improved players this season, Maitland-Niles will have a tough test against Eden Hazard on Wednesday and if comes out on top, majority of Chelsea’s attacking threat will be eliminated.

Lucas Torreira (CM)

The Uruguayan has been a key part of Arsenal’s success this season and his aggressiveness in the centre of the park will be hugely important on Wednesday.

Granit Xhaka (CM)

Xhaka will need to contain Chelsea’s brilliant midfield and should also get his long passes spot on. His partnership with Torreira has been impressive and he is expected to start.

Sead Kolasinac (LWB)

Kolasinac’s attacks have been one of Arsenal’s biggest strengths this season but the Bosnian has to be alert on the defence as well.

Mesut Ozil (CAM)

If Arsenal’s main creative outlet Mesut Ozil has a good game, Arsenal will have a good game.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (ST)

Premier League’s joint top-scorer and Arsenal’s hero from the semi-final. Aubameyang is high on confidence after scoring 5 goals in his last two games. He needs to be clinical on Wednesday.

Alexandre Lacazette (ST)

Arsenal’s player of the season and arguably the most important player against the Blues, Lacazette’s movement will be massively important and his chemistry with Aubameyang could slice Chelsea open.
