[Image] How Man United could line-up with their latest £60m target in the team

Share

According to reports, Manchester United are preparing a £60m bid to sign Chelsea winger Willian this summer.

United boss Jose Mourinho is reportedly seeking a reunion with the Brazilian international, who he first brought to England from Anzhi Makhachkala in 2013 during his managerial spell at Stamford Bridge.

Willian, 29, started just 20 times for the Blues in the Premier League last season and despite his limited game time, he was named Chelsea’s Players’ Player of the Year.

Here’s how United could lineup next season if Mourinho succeeds in signing Willian.

Manchester United lineup fitting in Willian

Manager: Jose Mourinho

Formation: 4-3-3

David De Gea (GK)

One of the best goalkeepers in the world, De Gea is United’s undisputed choice in goal and that won’t change next season.

Antonio Valencia (RB)

Valencia has been United’s one of the most consistent performers under Mourinho. Despite being 32, he is still going strong and has shown no signs of slowing down.

Eric Bailly

Eric Bailly (CB)

Bailly is perhaps United’s best defender but his progress has been hampered due to a string of injuries. Strong and powerful, the Ivorian is a beast at the back and he should be hoping to have a solid 2018/19 season by steering clear of injuries.

Chris Smalling (CB)

Smalling was a regular fixture for United last season. Despite having a wealth of experience, the Englishman is largely inconsistent and hardly inspires confidence in the Red Devils’ defence. Yet, he should retain his place in the team next season.

Luke Shaw (LB)

Ashley Young made the left-back role his own in the 2017/18 campaign as Shaw made sporadic appearances. However, Mourinho must start Shaw at left-back next season as the England international needs to play regularly to unlock his true potential.

Nemanja Matic (CDM)

What a shrewd signing Matic has proven to be for United! The Serbian screens the defence very well, covers a lot of ground and contributes to attacks as well.

Paul Pogba (LCM)

Pogba endured an inconsistent campaign last term but there is no doubting his quality. When the Frenchman is at his best, it is difficult to stop him. Pogba will need to be at his very best throughout the next campaign if United are to challenge for the title.

Fred (RCM)

United announced Fred as their first signing of the summer when they revealed an agreement had been reached with Shakhtar Donetsk over his transfer. However, he is yet to be formally announced as a United player.

Fred would bring a lot of thrust in the midfield and would certainly allow Pogba to be more expressive going forward. The Brazilian could finally be the player, who gets the best out of Pogba.

Alexis Sanchez (LW)

Sanchez’s signing hasn’t gone according to the scripts for United. The Chilean has largely looked anonymous at Old Trafford, scoring just three goals in 19 games. However, he will be raring to come good and prove his worth next season.

Willian (RW)

Willian could be the player to solve United’s right wing woes. Fast, agile and industrious, the Brazilian would bring a different dimension to United’s attack. He is also a very good crosser of the ball, something which Romelu Lukaku would relish.

Romelu Lukaku (ST)

Lukaku enjoyed a fantastic debut season for United this past campaign, scoring 26 goals in all competitions. The big Belgian has improved his overall game and would only get better from here on for his club and nation.
