Predicted Swansea City Line-up To Face Newcastle United In The Premier League

The Premier League is finally back in town this weekend and there are a number of games that are sure to keep the fans at the edge of their seats in the next couple of days. Paul Clement’s Swansea had a rough start to the league campaign but fought their way back with a victory over Crystal Palace before the international break.

They have a chance to back their victory up this weekend when they face a newly promoted Newcastle side, who also won their game before the international break. Clement will be aware of the threat the Magpies carry and will set his team up accordingly.

Team News

The manager revealed before the game that Jordan Ayew is now back in training and is available for this game but Ki Sung-Yeung is still out injured and is expected to miss this tie. Nathan Dyer remains the only other casualty but he is back in training as well and should not take too long before regaining full fitness.

Manager: Paul Clement

Formation: 3-5-2

GK – Lukasz Fabianski

The first choice shot-stopper for Clement, Fabianski has been in decent form and should keep his place in the side.

CB – Mike van der Hoorn

On the right-hand side of the 3-man backline should be Van Der Hoorn, who put in a solid performance in the previous game for his side.

CB – Federico Fernandez

Though more adept in a two-man defence, Fernandez is expected to start at the heart of the back-3 for his side.

Alfie Mawson

CB – Alfie Mawson

Arguably the best player for Swansea so far this season, Mawson should play on the left-hand side of the backline and will have his work cut out against a decent Newcastle team.

RWB – Kyle Naughton

The experienced full-back has been effective in a wing-back role and Clement should stick with him for this tie.

CDM – Sam Clucas

Was immense last season for Hull and is the first choice midfielder for Clement at Swansea this season, playing as the deepest of the midfielders.

CM – Tom Carroll

Having made a decent start to the league campaign, Carroll has cemented a place in the first team and is expected to start against Newcastle.

CM – Leroy Fer

Leroy Fer should start as a part of this midfield 3 alongside Clucas and Tom Carroll. He will look to nail down his place in Clement’s XI this season.

LWB – Martin Olsson

With the lack of options at the back, Clement should use Olsson as a wing-back on the left-hand side in this game.

ST – Jordan Ayew

Though he is just coming back from an injury, Ayew adds balance to the Swansea side and should be pushed into the first team straight away.

ST – Tammy Abraham

The youngster has made an exciting start to his life in Wales and is expected to lead the line for his side against the Magpies.
