West Ham United have seemingly embarked on a signing spree in the ongoing summer transfer window. The appointment of Manuel Pellegrini as the club’s new manager appears to have paid off as it has allowed the Hammers to sign numerous big names so far. But their work seems to be far from over.
The Londoners have secured deals for Ryan Fredericks, Lukasz Fabianski and Issa Diop so far but they continue to get linked with numerous players.
It is safe to say that Pellegrini has a vision in mind and that he is working hard to strengthen the current team. With that in mind, here’s West Ham’s strongest XI in a 4-2-3-1 formation, combining the current players as well as the ones they have been linked with.
Signing Fabianski is a great move by Pellegrini. Joe Hart has returned to Manchester City and the experienced goalkeeper could work wonders for the Hammers between the sticks.
Fredericks lit up the Championship last season with his marauding displays on the right-hand side. And there is no doubt that he will do the same for West Ham next term.
The £22m new signing should slot straight into the team alongside the experienced Reid.
It remains to be seen if Pellegrini signs another centre-back but if not, Reid would be a good partner for Diop.
Masuaku was a promising player for West Ham last season and going forward, he should retain the left-back spot.
West Ham have been linked with Toure in the last few days. Given Toure’s calibre and level of experience, he would dominate the midfield in an unparalleled manner.
Signing Seri would be a massive statement of intent from the club. The Hammers have emerged as potential suitors for him quite recently but if they play their cards right, they will land one of Europe’s best for just £35m.
The Lazio winger boasts of blinding pace, creativity and his well-timed runs often have incisive quality. His power could truly help West Ham work their magic in the final third. The Hammers are reportedly confident of landing the player for £35m.
Lanzini is yet to recover from his injury but once he returns to full fitness, he will surely be a part of the strongest West Ham line up that Pellegrini might field.
Arnautovic should get his place in the team, on the left-wing.
After enjoying a brilliant time on loan with Fulham, Pellegrini could benefit by making a move for the highly talented striker. He has been linked with the Hammers in recent times and it will be interesting to see if the deal goes through.
