Hyndman Starts In Midfield – Strongest 4-2-3-1 Rangers Line-Up To Face Partick Thistle

Predicted Rangers Lineup To Face Partick Thistle

With 2nd place all but gone, Rangers’ only mission now is to ensure they don’t let their season just fizzle out.  Pedro Caixinha will demand much more this time after two very disappointing efforts against Celtic in both league and cup recently, with Partick Thistle the team in their way.

Thistle are no mugs and have not lost at home since February when going down 1-0 to St Johnstone.  They came undone at Ibrox recently though and the manager will look for a repeat of that performance here from his team.  You feel changes will be made after the humiliation of their last game and so Bates and Garner may come back in with a change back to 4-2-3-1 on the cards:

Probable Rangers XI:

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Pedro Caixinha

GK – Wes Foderingham

Foderingham is someone whose place may be under threat next year. However, for now, he remains no.1.

RB – James Tavernier

A disappointing season for Tav, though the former Newcastle man is still capable of getting forward from right-back position to good effect.

CB – David Bates

Rangers’ overall profile looks better with him in the side and the 20-year-old may be trusted to come back in here at the expense of Clint Hill.

CB – Danny Wilson

Still potentially a solid Premiership defender, the former Liverpool man appears to be in pole position among the available centre-backs for now.

LB – Myles Beerman

He might not start next season in this position if Lee Wallace is fit. However, the young Maltese player is gaining valuable experience right now.

CM – Jason Holt

Is quietly getting on about his work. Holt has been valuable to Rangers this season without really winning many plaudits.

CM – Emerson Hyndman

The on-loan star is very good going forward but he might be needed in a slightly deeper midfield role here.

RW – Martyn Waghorn

Rangers’ forward players in the main have been much of a muchness, but there are few options to change it and Waghorn can start again.

CAM – Joe Garner

Still afforded only limited time on the field, Caixinha at least appears to trust Garner and he may get the chance to repay the boss with a goal here.

LW – Joe Dodoo

The former Leicester man can run out of puff slightly but he certainly has talent. He may show his worth here against a lesser opposition.

ST – Kenny Miller

The veteran attacker is Rangers’ best player right now and has to start up front. He provides a reliable goalscoring threat, Miller still has bags of energy and will be closely guarded by Thistle’s centre-backs this time, possibly giving others a chance to find space.
