How Will Celtic Line Up Next Season Based On New Signings And The Transfer Rumours?

Share

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers completed one of his biggest signings when he brought in Moussa Dembele from Fulham. The young French striker was linked with a host of top Premier League clubs and it shows the direction that Celtic are going in and the fact that Rodgers was able to bring in one of the hottest properties in English football over to Scotland.

The Hoops are one of the biggest clubs in Europe, even if their European journeys haven’t been the best in recent seasons but Rodgers knows he has a lot of work to do if they can make it to the Champions League and would be looking to bring in a few more signings to the side.

The need to have a team set before pre-season is essential and there have been a number of players linked with a move to Celtic. While the club could play a dynamic 4-3-3, something that worked a charm at Liverpool during that incredible 2013-14 season, Rodgers would also be looking to sign a few more players over the course of the summer and we look at just who could make this 4-3-3 based on the rumours flying around.

A new line of attack at Celtic Park

Normally we would start out in defence but the attack is one of the first regions where Rodgers would be looking to make a mark. The signing of Dembele and the fact that Leigh Griffiths is still at the club is a surety that the new manager would be looking to play with more attacking intent as Dembele would not have joined any club unless he was guaranteed first team football.

Apart from Dembele, there is a great chance of Danny Ings coming to Celtic on loan that is. The English striker might not get a lot of games at Liverpool since they won’t be having any European football and the striker could play out wide with Dembele on one side and Griffiths down the middle.

The midfield is a tough nut to crack due to so many Celtic players who can move around in the middle of the park. The club would nevertheless play with Scott Brown, Gary Mackay-Smith and Nir Bitton in the centre of the park, they cannot be dropped and even the likes of Tom Rogic could be leaving the club this season.

The defence shouldn’t really get a lot of rework with the centre-backs beings Dedryck Boyata and Efe Ambrose with Mikael Lustig and Kieran Tierney on either side of the centre-backs. There really cannot be any other player in the goalkeeping department than Craig Gordon, who is one of the best in Scotland at least.

Rodgers still might have a few players up his sleeve and could sign a few more before the transfer window ends. Celtic fans should still be expecting to win the title with the team they already have but need to do a lot to ensure they make it to the Champions League group stages.
