According to a report in Daily Record, Scottish champions Celtic are interested in signing Toulouse centre-back Christopher Jullien during this transfer window.
As per the report, the player is rated around £10m and has a contract with the French club up until the summer of 2021. (h/t Daily Record)
With the Hoops manager, Neil Lennon, looking to sign a centre-back on a permanent deal, the former French U-20 international is on their radar this summer.
However, if the Scottish treble winners are to make a move, they need to fend off the interest of few English clubs, who are also interested in the centre-back. (h/t Daily Record)
Here’s why Neil Lennon’s men signing the 26-year-old would be a right move ahead of next season:
Christopher Jullien is a strong centre-back, who can play in either full-back positions if required. Having been one of the key defenders at Toulouse for some time now, the former French youth international has developed into a reliable player.
In terms of attributes, the 26-year-old is very strong physically and doesn’t mind duels with centre-forwards. He is good at reading the game defensively and is decent at passing the ball from the back.
On the other hand, Celtic, after the departure of Dedryck Boyata, are down to very few centre-back options. With Filip Benkovic’s future, who was on loan from Leicester last season, not confirmed yet, they could be down to two senior central defenders ahead of next season.
Hence, it makes sense for Neil Lennon’s men to try and make a move for Jullien during this transfer window. The Frenchman’s experience and nous of the game would help the Hoops not only in domestic games but also in Europe.

All in all, the Scottish treble winners are right in opting to try to swoop in for the Toulouse centre-back. If they get him, it would be a good signing.
