At the moment, Fulham star Kevin Mcdonald isn’t having the best time at Craven Cottage, with him not being in manager Claudio Ranieri’s plans.
The former Wolverhampton star has struggled to make an impact this season for the Cottagers, making just 10 appearances, with a large majority of them being starts under former manager Slavisa Jokanovic.
Now with the January transfer window open, the Telegraph has revealed that West Bromwich Albion want to bring him in. However, Football.London adds that Steven Gerrard Ranger’s side are also in the race for the central midfielder, with the Scottish side looking to add Mcdonald’s composure to their squad.
For the 30-year-old, however, a move to West Brom would clearly be the better option at the moment, especially given the state of their midfield. Other than Jake Livermore, the Baggies have no midfielder with the kind of experience that Mcdonald has.
Both James Morrison and Gareth Barry have the experience of ten players, but they are on the wrong side of thirty, with Barry closing in on 38.
This combined with Rekeem Harper and Sam Field’s lack of experience means that any move for the Fulham star would be welcome. That’s a guaranteed spot in a Championship side that’s challenging for a promotion play-off spot.
Add Kevin Mcdonald to that team and the Baggies have a decent chance of potentially being in the Premier League next season, which makes the move that much more valuable.
The 30-year-old is an all-action midfielder, with a decent eye for a pass. That combined with his tenacity and ability in the middle of the park made him a great buy for Fulham back when they really needed a man of his abilities in the Championship.
