According to a report from the Sun, Arsenal are in talks with the representatives of AS Roma’s star midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini as they look to sign him in the summer.
The report reveals that the Italian has a release clause in his contract which would make him available for just £27million, an absolute bargain for a player of his quality.
Pellegrini is one of Italy’s brightest prospects and Roma are reluctant to lose their star midfielder. The Giallorossi are set to offer him the vice-captaincy in their bid to lure him into signing a new deal but Arsenal should swoop in well before that happens.
The report says that Arsenal’s biggest issue over completing the signing is their inability to pay the release clause up front. The Gunners have offered to pay the transfer fee in instalments, which could prove to be a deal breaker as London rivals Tottenham, along with the two Milan clubs are also keen on him.
However, Arsenal should use their history of developing young and talented players into world beaters to tempt the 22-year-old to make the switch ahead of the three other European giants who are in the hunt for him this summer.
Arsenal are in desperate need of a new midfielder due to the departure of Aaron Ramsey to Juventus on a free transfer. The Welshman has left a massive void which needs to be filled, as Unai Emery looks to have a real impact his second season in charge and Pellegrini would be one hell of a signing.
The Italian has been highly impressive in a disappointing Roma side this season. Pellegrini missed 8 games in the Serie A due to a bicep muscle injury but his performances in his 21 starts have been outstanding.
The box-to-box midfielder has been used, both as a number 10 as well as in a deeper position this season and he has shown real maturity to excel in all of those positions despite only being 22 years old.
The youngster has all the traits that are required to be a top quality midfielder in the coming years and Unai Emery is the perfect manager for him, thanks to his proven record of giving young players a chance if they are up for it.

Lorenzo Pellegrini will become the next great Italian midfielder and Arsenal should be all over him in the transfer window. The interests from the Milan clubs and Tottenham are sure to make it hard for the Gunners but they should use all their power to steal a deal for him in the summer.
