Predicted Manchester City Line-up To Face Liverpool In The Champions League

After what has been an extremely forgettable week, Manchester City will be hoping to bounce back when they take on Liverpool in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie.

Pep Guardiola’s Cityzens were beaten 3-0 by the Reds in the first leg at Anfield last week, following which they were handed a 3-2 defeat by neighbours Manchester United on Saturday at the Etihad, which ended a 16-month unbeaten run at home.

The manager will be hoping that his troop mounts a comeback against Jurgen Klopp’s side to push for a berth in the semifinals of the competition.

Probable Manchester City XI

Manager: Pep Guardiola

Formation: 4-3-3

Ederson (GK)

The Brazilian international has been a reliable presence between the sticks for the Cityzens in his debut campaign in England.

Kyle Walker (RB)

The former Tottenham Hotspur man was rested for the Manchester derby at the weekend but is guaranteed to replace Danilo against the Reds.

Vincent Kompany (CB)

The club captain is an influential presence on the field for Man City. Will be hoping to inspire his team on Tuesday.

Nicolas Otamendi (CB)

The Argentine did not have the best of games against United but has been quite solid over the course of the season for the Sky Blues.

Fabian Delph (LB)

Returning from injury, the England international put on a steady and solid display against United this past week which should seal his spot at left-back for this European fixture as well.

Kevin De Bruyne (CM)

Another key member of the team who did not start against the Red Devils, De Bruyne will be very important if City are to mount a comeback.

Fernandinho (CM)

The Brazilian international is a guaranteed starter for City as his defensive work in the middle allows the likes of De Bruyne to flourish.

David Silva (CM)

Along with De Bruyne, Spanish pass master David Silva will hold the key for Guardiola’s side if they are to overcome the three-goal deficit.

Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling (RW)

The England international missed a lot of chances against United and will be hoping to bounce back with a valuable contribution against his former club.

Sergio Aguero (ST)

After a brief spell out on the sidelines, City’s all-time leading goalscorer appeared off the bench this past weekend. Has scored 6 in 18 appearances against Liverpool and will need to add to that tally if his side are to stand a chance of making it to the last four of the competition.

Leroy Sane (LW)

Endured a difficult match at Anfield when he was completely taken out of action by the excellent Trent Alexander-Arnold. Will be keen on making a meaningful impact on the game.
