Bristol City vs Leeds United Report: Leeds United Match Report

Leeds United have begun their Championship campaign with a commanding 3-1 win over fellow rivals Bristol City away at Ashton Gate. Pablo Hernandez, Patrick Bamford and Jack Harrison scored for Marcelo Bielsa’s men, while Andreas Weimann netted for the home side.

The visitors deserved the lead at half-time, which was given by Hernandez, with a 20-yard solo effort that struck the top corner of Ban Bentley’s net.

The veteran Spaniard spearheaded the Whites’ attack by being the main source of creation of chances. He looked lethal around the Bristol City box.

He eventually created the second Leeds goal 12 minutes into the second half by dribbling past Callum O’Dowda and delivering a good ball into the box for Bamford to nod home at the near post.

The hosts then went for broke and threw men forward in search of goals. However, in the 72nd minute, they were caught on the counter-attack and Jack Harrison made it 3-0 for Leeds United with a close-range finish.

Bristol City got a goal back through Weimann in the 79th minute, where he produced a well-taken finish. But it was not enough to ruffle Leeds’ feathers before the full-time whistle.

Bielsa’s men were good at the back and pounced on the mistakes made by their opponents to create chances and score. A good start to the season by the Whites.

Here’s how their fans reacted after the game:
