The Gunners striker has decided to wait till the end of the season to decide whether his future remains at London or elsewhere. There have been rumors of Juventus interested in signing the forward but his agent, Michael Manuello has insisted that he is not leaving Arsenal in the winter transfer window.
Manuello has stated (via Footmercato.net), “Olivier feels really good at Arsenal. He’s going to finish the season here. Nothing is possible in January for Olivier. He has no intention of moving during the winter transfer window.”
Giroud has not started a Premier League game this season but despite struggling, the Frenchman is trying to fight for his place at Arsenal, but has still come off the bench to score crucial goals for his team when called upon.
The main reason behind Giroud’s lack of game-time has been the superb form of Alexis Sanchez. With Sanchez as their front-man Arsenal play football very swiftly and a greater fluidity of movement when attacking is present. The Chilean attacker has scored 12 goals already this term and has been the favorable choice as Arsenal are currently second in the league.
Though there is no denying the 30-year-old Frenchman’s aerial abilities and holding-up of the ball are quite probably of the highest quality. His lack of pace on the other hand is a possible reason as to why he hasn’t found himself in the starting eleven this season. He does come under a lot of criticism even by Arsenal fans but his goal scoring record is respectable.
Scoring three goals coming off the bench this season has made Arsene Wenger think about keeping faith in Giroud and with Lucas Perez scoring a hat-trick in their Champions League game against Basel gives a lot of intrigue to Giroud’s transfer.
Giroud’s contract at the Emirates runs until 2018, but in order for the club to take full advantage of yet another promising start to a domestic campaign, it could arguably be time for them to cash in and sell him to any Italian suitors.
