Three Changes That Chelsea Have To Make After The International Break

With two losses already to their name, Chelsea have not been the strongest outfit in the Premier League this season but with 13 points in the bag from the first 7 games, they are placed 4th in the points table. They can look to improve their performances and Conte will want his squad to be at their best for some crunch games coming up after the international break.

The manager will surely stick to his existing system, which won him the title last season, but he might have to make a few tweaks, to make sure that his tactics do not become obsolete. The Italian mastermind is one of the smartest managers around and here are three tactical changes he should make right after the break:

Creativity In Midfield

Ever since Conte decided to spend on Tiemoue Bakayoko, it seems like he has decided that his midfield will have French flair all around. N’Golo Kante and Bakayoko are undoubtedly one of the best midfield pairs in the competition at the moment but the lack of creativity in those names is hurting the side, especially with the forwards not at their best. Neither French midfielder is known for his prowess in front of goal and Conte has to find a way to add more creativity to his midfield in the upcoming games.

Back To A 3-4-3

The manager decided to solve the problem of creativity by moving to a 3-5-2 formation with Cesc Fabregas playing as a part of the midfield, in an attacking role. The Spaniard is more than capable of holding that position but at the moment, he is far from being at his best and has left Chelsea a bit short in the attack. It might be time for Conte to move back to a 3-4-3 system, using Eden Hazard as the main striker, now that Alvaro Morata has picked up an injury. He can have the likes of Willian and Pedro playing alongside him in attack, which would make Chelsea a more creative outfit on the whole.

Aggression During The Games

For most of last season, Chelsea were a side who many teams did not want to face. The fierce nature of their backline and the harassment they face against Chelsea’s midfield was too much for some of the teams in the league. However, having lost Nemanja Matic and Diego Costa, two of the most important players in the title-winning season, Conte and his side have lost their aggression and are making it easy for the opponents to face them.

The manager needs to have a tough talk with his side and should push them to ruff it up on the field, which is an essential quality of a club that wants to win trophies.
