Go for it Santo – 2 quality signings Wolves should make before the January deadline

Two signings Wolves should be looking to make on Deadline Day

Nuno Espirito Santo has been looking to add to his squad since the beginning of the month and although he could not be happier with the way his team has been playing and with their current position in the league, the loss to Aitor Karanka’s Nottingham Forest showed that the project is far from over.

In fact, it illustrated to the rest of the league that Wolves are not unbeatable, and with that in mind, it is paramount that Nuno makes some signings that would once again put the rest of the chasing pack on the back foot. To that end, he has been looking at making his team even more deadly in front of the goal, and even more capable of punishing teams when they get the opportunity. Here are 2 players who Wolves can think about signing this January.

Joao Carvalho

A link to a Benfica midfielder is nothing new to the Wolves fans, and the imports so far have proved to be very useful to the team who are on their march towards securing promotion to the Premier League. This link may be a little bit more of a risk but may have more of a reward in the long-term.

Joao Carvalho is only 20 years old and has made four appearances for the Benfica first-team. He is very highly rated and has already played in the Champions League. A move to Wolves would be quite a difficult one for the young player to make but the Portuguese connection in the Black Country would make it much easier for him to settle down.

Wolves may have a bit of a job on their hands in convincing a young player like Carvalho to leave his home country and make the move to the Championship but if they do manage it, then he would add great quality and class to a team that is heading to the Premier League.

Daniel Opare

Ghanaian International Daniel Opare is another option to swell the ranks of Wolves, as he’d bring experience and the ability to play on either side of the defence. He is currently at Bundesliga side FC Augsburg but has also played in (you guessed it) Portugal with Porto and Porto B.

He would be an excellent addition to the Wolves defence which is already very strong. Opare has been playing well for an Augsburg team who are 8th in the Bundesliga, safely away from the relegation zone. With that job done, he may wish to move on to help finish the task of getting Wolves to the Premier League.
